"Merry Christmas, Max." Max's mom smiles as the eldest child opens her last gift on such a special morning.

Usually Maxine and her parents don't get along, but they found it in their hearts to put their issues aside for Max's younger siblings. Max tears open the envelope, only to see a very confusing paper and a picture of a building.

"What?"

"There's an art gallery around where you live that rents out time for artists to show off their work and sell their pieces. We got you a week." Her dad smiles proudly, his arm wrapped around his wife in pride.

"We know your loft is overflowing with trademark Maxine Patellini masterpieces. That's all you do at that place." Her mother laughs.

You don't know that. Is what Maxine wants to say, but she looks around at her happy, smiling little siblings playing with their shiny new toys and decides against it. This is a happy Christmas, no fighting.

"Yeah, well... It's how I make a living..."

"Hardly a living."

"Mom."

Mr. Patellini awkwardly coughs, and even though he agrees with his wife, he decides to change the subject.

"Do you still use acrylic paint?" Mr. Patellini asks his daughter.

"You know it."
