i open my eyes to a blinding light coming from my window and my roommate, tiffany, standing over me, gently shaking me awake.
"what tiff?" i say, drowsily as i sit up and rub my eyes, my voice groggy as i had just woken up. it can't be past 7 am i think to myself as i look around my room, half asleep.
"time to start getting ready, it's your first day and we can't be late" tiffany says, taking a stepping away from my bed and walking over to my closet, looking through it.
for a second i'm confused, but i soon remember that today is my first day at my new job as a photographer for a popular hockey team. tiffany was the one who got me the job in the first place and offered to give me a ride today.
my heart races with excitement as this is my first professional photography job since i graduated and got my degree.
tiffany pulls out a blue sweatshirt from my closet. "this would be so cute with a pair of leggings, you should totally wear it" tiffany says, throwing the sweatshirt at me to put on.
tiffany has been my best friend for years now, she's the one that got me this job in the first place. shes been working as a photographer for the leafs since i've known her but she recently got offered a position that she couldn't pass up, so i'm basically taking her place and i couldn't be more excited.
i watch as tiffany looks through in my closet, watching as she digs around for a pair of leggings and when she finds one, she throws them at me.
"put those on, you're gonna look fab" she says, walking out of my room to give me privacy.
tiffany is one of those stereotypical basic white girls. she has blonde hair and blue eyes and her favorite color is pink. she wears pounds of mascara and brings perfume with her everywhere she goes. she also LOVES fashion and will take any chance she gets to dress someone, especially me, but i've gotten used to it.
i walk out of my room in the outfit she picked out for me and a brush in my hand. "how do i look?" i ask, combing through my hair.
"i didn't expect you to actually wear it, you look adorbs" she says, walking up to me and adjusting my sweatshirt.
"thanks tiff, you ready to go?" i ask, walking over to the front door and grabbing my tennis shoes, slipping them onto my feet.
"mhm, can we stop at starbucks first? don't worry we'll have time" she says, grabbing her car keys.
"if you insist" i say, rolling my eyes and smiling, knowing she was gonna pop the question sooner or later.
"yay!!" she exclaims, grabbing her water bottle and heading for the door.
she leaves the apartment and i follow close behind, closing the door and locking it behind me.
i open the door to the passenger side of the car and she gets in the drivers seat, sticking her keys into the ignition and twisting them, turning the car on.
i get in the car and shut the door behind me, taylor swift playing in the background.
on our way to starbucks i can't help but stress about my new job, i know that i don't really have anything TO stress about but it's still just a little bit anxiety inducing being in an unfamiliar work environment.
during our drive, tiffany tells me all about her experiences, all about her coworkers and who's nice and who's not and everything else.
"y/n, i think you'll fit in perfectly" she tells me.
"i sure hope so"
