My brother, Tony, was crazy about this guy, The Punisher. Apparently they've been having a hard time at the precinct, this man actually kills people, so they're worried about more vigilantes appearing. I mean, I was quite worried too, Daredevil was making my brother's life easier, and we had less crime in the streets, but he didn't raise a bloodbath in Hell's Kitchen, The Punisher did. Manhattan was always quite dangerous and these guys made me feel safe, Tony said that I was crazy but really, weren't they attacking the bad guys? Isn't that exactly what the police do? Daredevil was more like a Law guy, my brother doesn't have an issue with him, but I'm sure that the big guys that he gets arrested are going back on the streets one day, The Punisher gets the job done, no coming back. He's the real 'one shot, one kill' guy, I don't see him as a threat: as long as you don't do shit, you're not in danger. It's very simple, really.
When I heard the name Frank Castle I got a bit shocked, of course that killer was a person just like us, but discovering it made him a lot more human, something I did not expect to realise. I worked at a prestigious law firm and had quite a lot of clients so my boss was not happy when I said that I was looking forward to working on Castle's case, but I did anyway.
He was at a hospital and it was impossible to get to him, though it didn't hurt to try.
"Hi, my name is Isabel Montesh. I'd like to talk Mister Castle, I'd like to offer my legal service." I said.
"Castle already has legal representation."The officer coldly answered.
"Yeah, I'm aware, thou I'm pretty sure I can help him a lot more than some shitty ass public counsellor."
The officer then proceeded to tell me that some other guys were upstairs doing exactly what I was trying to do, but he let me in. When I went up Castle had already agreed to be represented by a small firm, 'Nelson and Murdock', and that floor's officers did not let me through security due to it. I really wanted to help this man so I tracked his lawyers and hoped for the best. The realization that Frank Castle, The Punisher, was more human than the ruthless figure portrayed by the media intrigued me. Despite the challenges, my determination to represent him only grew stronger. One day, as I navigated through the intricate legal landscape, I found myself at the doorstep of 'Nelson and Murdock', a small law firm tucked away in the heart of Hell's Kitchen. My initial impression was that they might not be up to the challenge, given their modest practice.
I left the hospital frustrated, determined to find another way to offer my legal services to Frank Castle. I needed to do what I do best: convince people to cope with me, so I tracked down Frank's lawyers' office. The place, tucked away in a nondescript building, seemed an unlikely place to handle a case as high-profile as Castle's. I was greeted by Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer, and his partner, Foggy Nelson. Their secretary, Karen Page, was busy on the phone. I overheard her conversation, realizing that I wasn't the only one doubting their capacity to represent a man such as The Punisher.
Eager to secure his defence, Karen's passion for justice resonated with me. I hesitated for a moment, contemplating whether I should reveal my intentions. The ethical dilemma weighed on me, but my conviction prevailed. I approached Murdock, sharing my belief in The Punisher's cause and the meticulous study I had undertaken on his case. He politely listened to my plea, and though impressed by my dedication, they stood firm in their commitment to Castle. Sensing an opening, I offered to help them in the case since they would not let me take Castle's representation to myself and to my surprise, they were receptive. After a brief exchange, Nelson and Murdock agreed to allow me to assist them in Castle's case. Despite the initial competition, they recognized the sincerity of my intentions and the potential benefits of collaborating. Thrilled by the opportunity, I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement mixed with a tinge of nervousness.
The next step was meeting Frank Castle himself, to check if he was ok with the new addition to his legal team: me. As I entered the hospital room, a mental note formed about his appearance: tall and muscular man with a rugged and battle-hardened appearance, stern expression. Has a square jawline, sharp cheekbones, and the bruises, oddly making him more attractive. The thought crossed my mind, "If killer, why hot?" though I quickly scolded myself for such an inappropriate observation. Castle's piercing gaze met mine as we exchanged introductions. Despite his gruff exterior, I sensed a depth of character that intrigued me further. The meeting was sort, only to check if the man agreed to my participation and I left the hospital with a mix of excitement and apprehension.
Returning home that evening, I immersed myself in the details of Castle's case. The complexity of his situation became apparent, but the fire within me burned brighter. As I delved into the labyrinth of legal intricacies, I knew that this journey had just begun, and the shadows of Hell's Kitchen held secrets that demanded unravelling.
