I've completely abandoned the Bellas for a whole summer now, trying not to think of the school year ahead of me. Ahead of US. After Aubrey's "exciting experience," we decided to push the past behind us.
But we can't hold it back much longer, the activity fair opens in just an hour, and Aubrey and I have a legacy to full fill. We need to recruit talented girls to become Bellas! And the freshman don't even know about Aubrey's incident, so that's a bonus!
I meet Aubrey in the parking lot and get all of the materials out of her trunk. It's not a huge stand, but it looks complicated to put together. And then we have A TON of boxes. FULL of flyers to hand out, and the flyers are really stupid honestly. Alice designed them a few years back and printed a million out.

An hour later, everyone's stand is up and running, hoping to attract the freshman. The first person to stop at our stand was a short girl who tried out last year. I forgot her name at first but then she spoke...it was Baloney Barb. I let Aubrey do the talking and kind of looked down as she insulted us. I'm so stressed out. I might cry!
"Oh my god...if we can't get Baloney Barb, we can't get anyone!"
"Don't worry, I'm sure we can get twelve hot girls with bikini ready bodies befo-"
"Aubrey why don't we just get good singers"
Almost immediately after I got the words out of my mouth, a pudgy blonde walks up to our stand.
"What? Good singers? What?"
She seems nice enough.
"Hi!" I say cheerfully.
She greets us in an Australian accent, different but, pretty neat!
"So, can you sing?"
"Yeah."
"Can you read music?"
"Yeah."
"Can you match pitch?"
"Try me." She says smiling. I play along and start with a low note. She matches my pitch all the way up to a "do" and holds the note while she does a little dance. Aubrey and I can't help but smiling, and I have to try to hold back laughter! She has a great voice, but some interesting dance moves.
"I'm the best singer in Tasmania...with teeth."
Then she gives a big smile. I can already tell she'll be a ton of fun to work with.
Aubrey comments, "love it!" And I politely ask what her name is.
"Fat Amy."
We keep smiling even though we're quite shocked. Aubrey gets a little bit in her business. "You call yourself, 'Fat Amy'?"
"Yeah so twig b*tches like you don't do it behind my back."
Aubrey and I pause and look at each other, holding back a smile. Then she slowly hands her a flyer.
"Ok, we'll...see you at auditions."
Fat Amy walks away with a smile on her face.
After that, Aubrey starts to freak out again. And out of the corner of my eye, I notice a shorter girl with headphones on. She's pretty, and has an interest in music!
"Oo Aubrey what about her?"
"Um, I don't know. She looks a little, to... Conservative."
I'm not gonna let her comment stop me, this is a chance! I wave her over and hand her a flyer.
"Hi! Any interest in joining our a Cappella group?"
She looks at us and responds with an annoyed tone.
"Oh, this is a thing now?"
"Oh tots! It's like making music with out ANY instruments! It's all with out mouths!"
"yikes.." She whispers.
"I mean I would but I don't even sing, and it sounds pretty lame." She adds.
"Synchronized lady dancing to a Mariah Carey top chart is not lame, you b*tch."
I gasp at what Aubrey just said and try to cover quickly.
"What Aubrey MEANS to say is that it's totally not lame. We compete in national competitions and win awards! Auditions are in a while, can we hope to see you there?"
"I told you, I don't sing."
That's the last I saw of the girl.
