Lately life's been pretty miserable. School isn't going great, my mom is always busy it work and just recently my boyfriend cheated on me for some cheerleader. My parents have to spend so many hours working just to provide for me and they never have any time to do family activities like other families can. Yesterday however, I think my life just changed for the better. I met this amazing guy at my favourite fast food joint and I scheduled a date for today. It is right after my shift ends at the grocery store that is only a 2 min walk from that place. The date is at 6:30, my shift starts at 4 and ends at 6:15, my school ends at 2:00. That gives me 2 hours to get ready for the date and that means that I will have to wear my work apron over my date outfit and.....

I am woken up from my daydreaming by my teacher screaming at the class. "None of you know anything, I have been teaching you the same thing for months and you can't even answer a simple question that I give you?! Unbelievable. Could someone please tell me the answer?", she glares at me "You, y/n. Come up to the board and solve the question." It is some derivative question, we have to find the derivative of the function. I gulp, I haven't studied this in a while. I sheepishly walk up to the board and take the marker from the teacher's hand. "Find the derivative of cos(x)sin(x).", the teacher says "Since this is a multiplication we have to use the product rule.", I say nervously, " and hence the derivative is equal to the function a times function b and function b times function a. So the derivative will be -sin^2(x)+ cos^2(x).", I am scared, if I get it wrong she will yell at me in front of the whole class again and it will be so embarrassing. She starts to open her mouth as I brace for her screams. "Correct y/n." she says, "Finally, a student who got something right in my class. All of you should study more and work hard like y/n.", As she is finishing her lecture the clock hand approaches 2. Just before she can complete it, the bell rings loudly. Everyone rushes out of her class completely ignoring her. I hide myself among them and leave without drawing attention to myself.

I rush out of school and to the buses and take a seat in the very back. I stare out the window and watch the landscape pass as I reach my neighbourhood. The bus comes to a screeching halt and the door opens. I sheepishly scamper out and start walking to my house. I don't have much time now, I have to find a nice dress from my mom's closet, do my makeup and still have some spare time to get ready for work. If I don't come in today my boss will definitely scream at me. I start walking faster, time is limited as it is. I unlock my front door and go inside, to my surprise I find my mom at home making dinner. "Mom, what are you doing here?" I ask, "My work ended early today sweetie, why do you ask?" , "Nothing, it's just that I hardly see you home nowadays." I say in a sad tone "You know that I have work right, if me and your father don't go everyday we won't be able to make ends meet. You understand that right?" my mom says softly. I sigh, "Mom, I have to ask you something.", "Ask away dear." mom says ,"Would you mind if I borrowed a dress?", "What for?", she asks, "I have a date tonight, its with this guy I met recently.", "A date, a guy? This is so exciting sweetie. I have a nice red one that your dad bought me for our anniversary, you can borrow that." she replies, "Really?! Thanks mom!" I exclaim. I rush upstairs and search in her closet. I find it, a striking red colour that you couldn't miss from a mile away. I take it to my room along with some of her make up.

I stand in front of my bathroom mirror and then start getting ready. I finish my makeup after some time and then I put on my dress. From my closet, I take out a pair of high heels that my parents got me for my 16th birthday. The shoe is a beautiful red colour and matches perfectly with the dress mom gave me. I smile looking at them, I know tonight is going to be great. I put them on and then head downstairs. After 2 short hours, I am completely ready for my date. "Mom, I'm going to work.", "Ok sweetie, will your date drop you home?" mom asks "Yeah he will I reply.", "Ok bye sweetie!" she wishes, "Bye mom, love you" I quickly say. I call an uber to the grocery store, my dad is using the car so I can't take it today. The car arrives, I hop in and reach the store. I quickly get in and put on my apron. I head to the counter and start ringing up customers. I stock some of the groceries in their shelves and help a customer find something. Before I even know it 2 hours has already gone by before I know it. Time to meet my date.
