Yamcha is considered a loser and unfit warrior in the dbz universe but i kind of sympathize with Yamcha. He's is the definition of an average guy and he's always trying his hardest to not be the average guy of the show, even going as far as fighting someone who was considered the strongest in the universe (at the time) just to prove himself as a member of the team. In the end he gets killed. If Toriyama gave a little time into Yamcha's character i'm sure he would be liked more by fans and he'd be seen as the most relateable character in the show.
