Milo walked out the court and was surrounded by news reporters and civilians asking questions
"How did he get you in that room?"
"How did you get help?"
"How did he lure you to his house?"
"Did he bribe you?"
Everyone knew different stories, different point of views, different people were involved in their stories, they couldn't even get Milo's name right, some of their stories made no sense such as this one reporters, she said that she was told the kidnapper was his little sister Sarah, but Milo's sister was barely 2 years old. Milo got into his mom's car quickly and tried ignoring the people chasing the car.
"You okay dear?"
Milo's mom asked in a gentle tone.
"I'm fine."
Milo stared out the window blankly as he listened to what was playing on the radio, then an announcement came on, it was about his case, Milo's mom quickly shut the radio off and looked back at the road, silence filled the car. There were people and news reporters surrounding their house when they got back, it was like a mob out to overthrow a king. Milo's mom got out first and tried moving the people away with no success, Milo got out of the car and immediately people surrounded him and the questions began again. Milo didn't want to answer any so he quickly rushed into the house and his mom closed the door and sighed heavily.
"It was a mistake reporting him. If I didn't we wouldn't be in this mess"
Milo said while unknowingly holding his breath. Milo's mom placed a gentle yet firm grip on his shoulder and reassured him
"Milo dear, you did what you had to do to protect others and our neighborhood, you did the right thing."
Milo nodded but he couldn't shake the feeling of guilt and fear as it was possible he put his family in more danger than protecting them.
Milo walked to his room and went online to play a few games to keep his mind off of things, he went on and immediately there were news reports about his case and the sentence of Vincent's, some are saying Vincent is innocent and that Milo is just playing the victim card.
Milo shut his computer off and exhaled the breath he was holding, Milo decided to just call it a day and go to bed, maybe the next day people would start to leave him alone and forget the case.
After a few hours of sleeping Milo woke up and went downstairs to eat breakfast but he couldn't see his mom anywhere, Milo called out for her but there was no answer, Milo started panicking, he looked everywhere in the house and even in the backyard to see if she was anywhere but wherever he looked she wasn't there.
Her car wasn't in the driveway when he went to check, so Milo decided to call her but it went straight to voicemail, this made Milo panic even more.
He was wondering where his mom was, where she could have gone, just while he was overthinking it the front door opened.
"Sweetheart, I'm home!"
"Mom! Where did you go?! Why didn't you wake me?!"
Milo hugged his mom tightly like he was going to lose her.
"I only went to go get groceries dear, I didn't want to disturb you"
Milo's mom hugged him back but not as tight as Milo was hugging her.
"You should have woken me up..."
"I'm sorry dear, I was cooking and realized I needed a few things, I'll remember to wake you up next time, alright?"
Milo nodded and hugged his mom again, his hug was tight but also gentle. Milo's mom patted him on the back and pulled away from the hug to finish making breakfast.
Milo walked to the living room and sat down, maybe he was being a bit much, his mom should be able to go out without him worrying, after all no one is going to hurt her. Right?
These thoughts filled Milo's head, he tried to think of something else, anything else, but nothing made sense in this town, nothing. He was trapped in that room for months, no food, no water, how did he survive? Was it shorter than he thought? Milo shook his head and grabbed his coat and keys
"I'm going out mom...I'll be back in a few minutes..."
"Okay sweetheart, make sure to be–"
"Be back before the streetlights turn on, yeah yeah..."Milo walked out the door and began strolling down the streets. How strange...there were no...reporters, no journalists, no one was out, was Milo dreaming? Surely not. He woke up, he was awake, what is going on? Where is everyone? He was sure he's awake, he spoke to his mom, he walked out his house, he could feel, why is it so quiet? All these questions and no answer.
