King Mallacht was furious.  The red wolf had been getting in his way for far too long.  It had not only been a slight on his reputation, as was made apparent from some of the radio stations up north, but his dick still hadn't grown back.

What kind of blood magic was Aynaet learning to use?

And now he'd gotten word that the prison transfer was interrupted and Umber and Clay's ship had been captured and flown back to Mount Hagen.  The kraken had been killed.

The Four Horsemen were here.

Aynaet and Babd were planning their rebellion, that much was certain.  Dubh was dead, Aynaet was building up her army and he'd heard no word from Violet.

Where had his general gone?

As Mallacht made his way to the war room of his castle, he used his dragon-com to call Canary.

"I need you to do something for me," he said as he stormed through the castle.

"What do you need?" Canary replied with a groan.

"Your cunt of a mother cut my cock off and it won't grow back," he replied glumly.  The doctor burst out laughing.  "It's not funny!  Work your magic and make me a god damn antidote!"

Canary was still howling with laughter and Mallacht groaned with an eye roll.  "All hail Queen Aynaet!" Canary cackled loudly.

"Shut up!  I could have your head for that!"

"But you won't!" the doctor breathed, still giggling.  "Relax, old man.  I got you covered.  You can't blame me for finding the humor in mother's pranks."

Mallacht couldn't help but chuckle.  Despite how intolerable Aynaet was, he still loved the fire in her.  "I suppose she must love me."

"Pffft, no.  That's delusional thinking."

"I've done all I can to make her happy."

"And you also stole her from her life, tortured her, beaten her within an inch of her life and raped her for offspring."

Mallacht grumbled as he approached the large, black onyx doors of the war room.  "She is supposed to be mine.  That redneck, cowboy, podunk bastard abandoned her, I have not."

With a sigh, Canary said something that had never occurred to Mallacht.  "He still treated her a million times better than you ever have.  Especially with how she's told it with her bedtime stories."

Mallacht smiled as he leaned his shoulder against the door.  "She always had such great bedtime stories.  I miss those."

"So do I," Canary sighed.  "Back when she was trying to be happy with my siblings and I.  You remember the time Lilac and Berry wouldn't stop fighting until Mum told them about the time she fed some of her pursuers to a crocodile?"

Mallacht barked with laughter as he crossed his arms and rested his back against the door.  "Yes.  I remember that.  Such good times."

"Yes...until you killed Magento and blamed Mum for it."

Mallacht sneered with a growl.  "I had a reputation to uphold.  Your mother was the perfect scapegoat.  And it's not like anyone was going to take her word over mine.  And it was an accident."

Canary frowned as she heard her father's words over the dragon com.  So the old man finally admitted to killing the prince.  After all this time, he finally revealed his secret.  And he was still making excuses.

The gravity of the information hit Canary hard.  Crimson and Magento had always been her favorite siblings, as they had been with most of the others.  But when Magento died, Crimson lost all his spark and developed a stutter.  War broke out as her brothers and sisters had chosen sides.  Her mother's side lost.
