Volume 1 Chapter 3: What's A Friend?

Kalego leaves for the day to go home only to be flagged down by a very tall figure. Touya looked back only to see a long white haired demon with a silver mask equipped. He had bird legs with large talons. His voice was deep and low and his face was being obscured. It put her on edge.

Touya straightened out instinctually. Kalego stepped in front of her and gave the large figure a creative fist bump hand gesture. They were clearly friends. "Kalego, how's it going lately?" "Good, how are you doing, Shichiro?" "Not bad, who's this by your side? You didn't have a kid, did you?" "I did nothing of the sort, this is my new adopted imp. She was a hopeless stray so I decided to give her a home." She stepped out and into his view. "Kalego was scary looking but really nice. Maybe that's the case with this guy too?" She held out her shaking and trembling hand. "It's good to meet one of Kalego's friends." They both looked at her confused, they've never heard of the term friend before. "What's a friend?" Balam Schichiro asked, curiously. "Yeah, what's a friend?" She retracted her hand and looked up at them equally confused. "Are you two not friends?" They both looked at each other confused. "We are former classmates?" They both pointed at each other casually. "Do you not use the term friend in the netherworld? What about comrade?" "In war times, sure." Kalego stated seriously. "Oh um well can your friend… I mean your comrade here, can he be trusted?" Kalego narrowed his already fierce eyes on her scared shaking body. "He can be trusted with your secret. In fact he's obsessed with your species. I'm sure he can help you survive here." Kalego pointed at Touya blatantly and said out loud,"She's a human, by the way." His pal was knocked on his ass, completely shocked. He crawled back feeling overwhelmed by what he was just told. She felt the temperature of the atmosphere change. She took a step back scared. He smelled the air and her fear drove him crazy. He tackled her to the ground but just as he made physical contact. His hands were frozen solid. She was yanked out of his grasp by Kalego. He lifted her in the air by the back of the collar of her shirt. "Relax Shichiro. She's not a normal human. She's special. The chair demon wants her to grow up here. And she wants the same. I'll explain it in full at my place." He stood up and looked down at his icy hands. Kalego set her down on the ground and yawned softly. "First explain what a friend is, the human definition version."

Touya held out her hands and created flames from her fingertips. "I'm sorry for attacking, I got scared." He crouched down and she melted the ice away. "It's alright. I'm sorry for scaring you. Here I'll show you what is under my mask. So we can be even." He removed his mask and revealed his injured face. But he was surprised to see her eyes water with sympathy. She reached out and said sadly,"Who hurt you? Are you okay? Does it hurt?" He grabbed her hand gently and looked at her with surprise as tears streamed down his face. "No, I'm just fine. It happened a long time ago." She reached out and dried his tears with her other hand. Her red flames didn't hurt but felt warm and comforting. His flesh began to regenerate as the warmth of her soul and heart was projected through her fingertips. Her flames changed color to emerald green as his mouth became whole, once more. "There's no need to fear, because I'm here for you. I'll become a symbol of positivity for the netherworld. It seems like you demons need to be introduced to the word called hope." She smiled brightly as she felt like she discovered a new life purpose. "If I can't become a professional hero, then I'll be a guardian of hope and love. Because everyone deserves to be happy." She turned around and looked up at Kalego. "I'll become your successor, I'll train to become stronger. So I can help you protect the school from all dangers. Magical items exist in the replacement of technology. Surely we can find something that helps regulate my flames and ice. Keeping me from being killed by my own power." She created red flames around her fists as she got hyped up for the future. Kalego's eyes widened at her change in attitude towards her future fate. She wants to help the netherworld with her power? Helping others is selfless, demons don't think that way. He couldn't believe that she doesn't even want anything in return? Is this what humans are capable of whenever they are faced with despair and unfortunate circumstances? She was excited to help him fight against unknown foes? His usual grim and gloomy expression was replaced with a devilish cheeky grin. His fierce indigo eyes glowed bright with magical power. Purple sparks came off his shoulders as felt his veins boil with thrilling excitement. "My successor, eh brat? Very well! We both will train you to become the Netherworld's new hellhound of peace. You will bare your fangs at your enemies. You will protect the weak and helpless. And become a symbol of strength for all those around!" She held out her clenched fist. "Deal!" He gave her an electric fist bump.

Friend = Trusted Comrade. Something you spend time with outside of work and school. Someone you trust with your life, have fun with them, feel safe in their presence, and would do anything to help them.

1 Year Time Skip: (12 year old Touya)

Touya shook her hands of flames as she got ready to go again. She crouched down and covered her spine in black ice and sprouted wings with flames coming off. She leaped off the edge and she manipulated her flames and ice as if it was another limb. That's how quirks work. Her father has a special attack where uses wings of fire. She can do the same. She twirled around in the air and caught up with her uncle Hiro aka Balam Schichiro. He held out a high five as he flew backwards with his black feathered wings. "You are doing it! I'm so proud of you!" She smiled brightly. His heart was struck by a flaming arrow of love and cuteness.

Evil Cycle: (Demon Mode)
Black ice curved oni horns coming from either side of their forehead with the tips set on fire. Black ice frosting over their rounded ears and making sharp points. Black ice exoskeleton armor starting from the back of their neck, going down their spine, and a wide at first but then slim devil tail near the point. The tail end is glaive blade shaped. The end point sets on fire. Black ice wings sprout from the exoskeleton with a few jagged spikes.

They landed on the balcony of Kalego's house, which led to her room. He was leaning back on the railing and smoking a cigarette. "How did it go, did you pass the test?" Touya landed next to her father on the railing as red embers entered Kalego's peripheral vision. "I did more than pass. I flew back here by myself, dad." He turned around and smirked deviously as he flicked the cigarette into the abyss. The flames flickered between red and emerald. Shichiro wasn't anywhere in sight. "He had things to do, but…" Kalego pulled her off the railing and into a worried embrace. "You damn reckless idiot!" He held her close to his chest, he was slightly shaking. She realized that he has been worried about her safety this entire time. If something bad happened. He would be all alone again. She took the hug and smiled in his warm but strong embrace.

Touya ate her food and then walked out of her house only to see her security demon Infrit. "Are you ready, imp?" She turned around and quickly hugged her father and then ran past Infrit and created wings of ice and flames. "I'll see you at Bablys, Kalego." "Yeah." She flew next to Infrit and the scent of smoke coming off him was extremely strong. The flight to her new middle school in hell was silent. But it wasn't awkward or tense. It was relaxing and comforting. They eventually showed up to her school. She landed gracefully on the solid ground. And internally she was thanking the gods. She was so tired right now and the day already started. She looked back at her security demon and held out her fist, it was slightly on fire. Hesl smirked slightly and gave her a fist bump. "Have fun, imp. I'll be here after school to escort you back home. Try not to start too much trouble." He didn't mean that last part. He lit up another replacement cigarette and took off flying.

Devi-Middle School:
Black blazer with black and red checker pattern for the inside and high collar usually folded down. Baggy black shirt with a cute puppy face on the front. Black & red checker leggings with black & red checker pattern designed high top sneakers with red rubber soles.

Touya stretched out and then walked towards her homeroom class. She was transferring in a little late into the year. She had to learn how to fly to blend in. As well as do school activities. Her school didn't have solid ground paths to everywhere on campus. On her way to homeroom she caught the attention of everyone in the hallways. Except for a small group of demons harassing a kid with gold rings on his fingers? He was being beaten up for fun? She stopped walking and went into a dead sprint.
