Chapter 3

119 AC
King's Landing

"He's too slow." said Aemond as he and his siblings watched the fight in the arena.
"Be prepared to lose your money."
Visenya giggled and punched Aemond lightly in the shoulder. Aemond rolled his eyes and turned his gaze back to the fight.

"Children, behave properly, we are in public." Alicent knows her children.
"My love let them. They are still young. Let them have fun."
Viserys said to his wife.

Since Rhaenrya moved to Dragonstone with her husband and children, Viserys has spent more time with his other children.

Viserys began to cough.
"We should go into the hall, where we can also greet the ladies and gentlemen." Alicent suggested and put her hand on his shoulder.

The King and Queen left the grandstand above the arena together. Alicent gave her children a warm smile.
"Please come to the arena after the tournament."
The three nodded.
Aemond, Visenya, I'm glad you're both wearing a little more elegant clothing for once."
And with that, the two of them walked back to the castle.
"I'm going back too. I don't like these arena fights."
Helaena said and got up from her chair. "Visenya I think dresses look extraordinarily good on you." She said dreamily and ran after her mum.
"Where is Aegon anyway?"
Visenya asked her brother.
"In his room and it's better that way. Even mum says so." Said Aemond, annoyed.

"I think he's improved."

"Oh no, he's always completely different when you're around. He has respect for you." Aemond said firmly.
"I've never really noticed that before." Said Visenya with an equally firm expression.
"Oh, there's the birthday girl."
Said Aegon as he appeared out of nowhere next to Visenya.
Aegon had a broad smile on his face and dropped down onto Helaena's chair.
"Why are you smiling? Are you drunk again?" Visenya asked, scrutinising her older brother.

Aegon wore a green tunic with the Targaryen logo on the front. His hair was brushed and he didn't smell of alcohol.

"Why do I have to be drunk? Can't I just be happy that it's my little sister's birthday today?" He said and grinned.
"Well, actually you're always drunk and for your information, it's Helaena's birthday too. We're twins, remember?"
She said.

Aegon mused at his sister. Like him, she wore the colours of House Hightower, a green dress that went down to her ankles and gold jewellery with green gemstones. It was rare for Visenya to look like this. Normally she wears simple dresses or trousers, but today she had all kinds of accessories. Her hair was braided into an updo so that her gold and green necklace was more visible.

"You look good." Said Aegon to distract from the topic. "Anyway, I have a present for you." He said and handed her a box.
Visenya opened the box and found a small dagger.

The dagger was silver with a purple and black handle.
"It is beautiful."
Visenya said and hugged Aegon fiercely. Aegon blushed and Aemond just rolled his eyes. Visenya released the embrace just in time to see the knight she had bet on chop off the head of another.
Visenya turned to Aemond.
"You owe me so much money now."
Aemond pressed a bag of money into her hand and left his seat without another word to go into the hall.

"So you like it?" Aegon asked cautiously.
"Yes. It's by far the best present I've received today." She said and smiled at him.
"But make sure mum doesn't find it or she'll kill me."
"I promise." Visenya said and carefully closed the box.

"We should go to the hall."

Visenya nodded in reply and the two of them walked to the hall together. When they got there, the large door was already closed.
