Jay groaned as he left the gym. It was so early that it was still dark out. Against his better judgment, he decided to skip his only rest day and come work out anyway although his body was extremely sore. He had a long night, but he couldn't sleep anymore and decided to get up and workout instead. He had only gotten three hours of sleep, now, he felt so weak, he didn't know how he was going to make it through the day. He just wanted to lay back down and sleep. He headed back to his townhouse and started right on his protein shake. Working out kept him going. It kept his mind right and it minimized his anxiety. Especially during times he wanted to sleep, but couldn't. Working out or hooking up, one of the two would work.
"Good morning, bro." Joey greeted as he entered the kitchen and headed straight to the fridge.
"Sup." Jay greeted. He was too tired to sit and hold a conversation. Being two grown men that lived together, they didn't always talk, even though they were really good friends. There were the few occasions that they both sat in the living room, but for the most part, when at home, Jay was to himself and Joey did his own thing, too. Joey walked past him and opened the fridge to make a bowl of cereal. "I'm surprised to see you functioning." Jay joked.
"Barely, bro." Joey replied with a chuckle and a shake of his head. "You know I'm like the terminator, though." He was at that stage in his life where bouncing back from a hangover was second nature. "You got class today?" He asked and Jay nodded.
"Yeah, but not until later, though. I'm about to just go lay down for a while." It was a Thursday and it was when his schedule was the most packed having three classes in a row. It was his own fault since he forced himself to have no classes on Friday's and decided to go partying on a Wednesday night. He preferred it that way, the extended weekend was refreshing for his brain. Jay exited the kitchen and took his protein shake into his room and prepared to take a shower.
After his shower, he laid across his bed and tried to sneak in a power nap before he needed to go to class. One thing about Jay, he loved sleep. He didn't usually sleep during the day, but once nightfall hit, he was very consistent with his bed time, aside from the occasional party nights. After about an hour long nap, Jay was back up and getting ready for his day. He was a very energetic person and once he was up, he was up. He was actually in a good mood and eager to start his day now, the power nap had done him some good. Everyone who knew him would describe Jay as happy-go-lucky. Whereas the people who didn't know him too well would describe him as nonchalant and quiet. It just depended on how he felt that day and the people that he was around. He was nowhere near being outgoing unprovoked.
He quickly opened his laptop and checked the student portal again hoping that something had changed. Unfortunately, his financial aid still said 'pending' next to it and it made him groan dramatically. Still, he got up and got ready to head to campus and make it to his classes. He refused to fall behind because he had a good feeling that it would be coming through soon, before they trashed his schedule and kicked him out. He was ultimately tired of explaining to all of his professors about his schedule situation, but still was ready to explain every step to Professor Knowles with no problem. He didn't even have her class today, but he still wanted to talk to her. Especially because he thought she might be able to help. She was his only Professor that even remotely cared or pretended to, at least. No one else even remembered his name when he approached them.
Jay waited until all of his classes were over before he decided to go up to Professor Knowles' office and talk to her. On his way over, he saw that she had actually just got done with a class, so he wanted to catch her while he could. "Mr. Carter." B greeted as he approached her when he saw that her class ending. Jay smiled internally at her remembering his name without even stumbling. She had a good memory, it was one of her hidden talents. "Were you looking for me?" He nodded as an answer. "What can I do for you?"
