Home Late

It was late out, and Violet was on her couch reading a book when someone slammed open the door. “Drop off for Violet!” Two-Bit called out. Darry and Two-Bit were holding Dally up straight.

It was common for Dally to run off without a trace for a few days. This time, the gang had found him outside Buck Merrill’s after a drunken fight.

“Im tired, sweetheart..” Dally drawled. He stumbled out of the others grasp and pushed himself between her arms. He missed her, even in his drunken state.

Violet helps hold him up with him now in her arms. She looks up at Two-Bit and Darry. "Thanks guys. For bringing him back."

Two-Bit and Darry nod at her, a bit relieved. They leave them alone, shutting the door behind them. Dally rests his head in her lap, letting out a soft groan. She sits on the couch with him in her arms.

A sudden wave of exhaustion washes over him. He leans more on her, pressing his forehead into her lap. The smell of liquor fills the room. She starts running her fingers through his hair, smiling down at him.

He sighs, his mouth curling into a content smile as his shoulders relax. His breathing becomes even, showing the obvious signs of sleep coming on for him. He snuggles up into her neck, contented. Violet keeps playing with his hair as they both fall asleep in each other's arms.

He snores softly in her lap, his body falling limp as he sleeps. After a few hours, he stirs in his sleep, his breathing becoming more frantic as he seems to be having a bad dream of some sort. Violet wakes up and notices that he's having a nightmare. She starts slightly shaking him and whispering, "Babe? Baby, wake up."

He starts to fight her efforts, still partially asleep. His breathing is quick, his eyes darting side to side. He’s starting to grow more frantic and agitated, and his breathing is coming quicker. He grabs her arms, trying to push her away. She keeps trying to shake him awake but shaking him a little harder now and whispering louder, "Baby, wake up! Wake up please. It's just a dream!"

He starts struggling more, trying to break free more and more. His breath becomes ragged. His fingernails start to dig into her skin, creating small scratches on her wrists. The smell of alcohol is thick all around the two, and Dally seems to be completely oblivious to where he is or who he’s with.

She ignores the pain of his scratches and sits up, pulling him up too. She says in a normal volume but with urgency, "Baby! Wake up!" She lowers her volume to try and be more gentle, "Baby please, it's just a dream. It's not real. It's ok baby, I'm here."

Her words slowly start to sink in, as he looks over at her face. He shakes his head a bit to clear the haze a bit more, and then starts to relax. The grip on her wrists fades away, and instead he wraps his arms around her body and rests his head against her chest. She smiles and holds him tightly and runs her fingers through his hair again to try and soothe him. She whispers, "It's ok, I'm here. You're ok. It's all ok baby, it was just a dream." She is still in a little pain from the scratches from when he was having his nightmare but she continues to ignore the small pain, since it doesn't hurt that bad anyway.

He relaxes more and more, his breathing becoming more even as he’s wrapped safely around her. He starts to drift back asleep, his movements growing slower with each passing second. His grip starts to loosen as he falls back into the world of sleep. She keeps running her fingers through his hair but leans back onto the couch and lays him on top of her.

He shifts slightly on top of her, his arms laying over her chest as he sleeps. His breathing is deep and heavy as he snoozes peacefully. A small smile rests on his lips, clearly relieved he’s back in her arms and the nightmare is over. She has one arm wrapped around him while the other is still going through his hair. Violet smiles again, seeing his smile.

His hand starts to drift slightly before it gently ends up on her thigh. He squeezes it slightly, just to feel her presence next to him. The alcohol has him completely docile.

With him lying on top of her and her limbs wrapped around him, the two start to drift back off into sleep. Their breathing matches as the two cuddle, with nothing else in the world to worry about at the moment.

------------------------------------------------------

The next day.

Dally lays sprawled across her and the couch, his breathing even and his eyes still closed. One hand rests on her thigh, squeezing her leg gently. The other one is wrapped around her shoulder. A smile rests on his lips, a small bit of drool seeping down the corner of it.

Violet starts waking up slowly. She opens her eyes and sees him. She smiles and looks at the little bit of drool seeping down the corner of his lip and chuckles a little.

His head slowly rolls over to where he can see her. His eyes open slowly when they meet hers, and a smile spreads across his face when he sees her. He squeezes her leg gently, and the drool from earlier flows out of the side of his mouth and gets in her shirt. He laughs a little, and his eyes close again. His hand starts to slowly drift up her thigh. She chuckles again then wipes the drool from his mouth with her sleeve but there's now some on her shirt. She keeps her arms wrapped around him, still holding him close and not caring about his drool being on her shirt. She thinks it's cute how he kinda acts like a baby with her sometimes.

He opens his eyes again and looks at her. His hand reaches her thigh again, squeezing it gently like it did last night. His other hand starts to wander slowly towards her back, reaching in between them and slipping further down her body. A light smile is on his face as he stares at her. She smiles back at him then leans down and kisses his forehead gently.

He smiles more when he feels her kiss him. His eyes close a little bit, his lips curling into a larger smile. His fingers start to travel a bit more, now going under her shirt to her back. His gaze is focused on her body and on the parts he is touching, and it’s very clear by the look on his face he is appreciating it.

Suddenly the TV channel goes to an emergency broadcast explaining that they are running an experiment called "The Purge" and it will last 24 hours and all crime, including murder, will be legal. Participation is required and the "Purge" or experiment, will start two days from today...
