as the bus nears the school, sunoo's eyes widen.

the school looks like a castle- the pristine pillars and stained glass windows literally gleaming in the distance.

"godamn..." sunoo mutters under his breath, mouth agape whilst looking at the enormous academy.

as the bus reaches its final stop, sunoo follows the rest of the teens out, mostly staying with jake and jungwon.

the entrance itself is like the eighth wonder of the world, fountains on either side of the long, wooden doors.

jake smiles a little at sunoo's obvious amazement.

"you'll get used to it, sun. by the way...before we go in, remember something for me, will you?" jake asks sunoo in a hushed tone.

sunoo nods his head, facing the older.

"the only way us orphanage kids get along here is because we have to act like we're rich and privileged like the others. there's been more bullying cases than anyone can count at this place towards kids like us. so for your safety, i'd forget your entire orphanage persona and make a new one here." jake sighs.

"i see." sunoo takes a mental note of this new information he's getting from the older, carefully considering it.

new persona? that's easy as fuck.

"for example, i'm the student body president, but nobody knows i'm from the orphanage. if they did..." jake glances around before continuing, "my main point is, whatever you do, don't reveal you're from the orphanage. by the way, stop by at the attendance office for your schedule. i'll see you later." he finishes.

sunoo nods again and bids a quick goodbye to jake, entering the building and searching for the attendance office.

as he wanders through the sunlit hallways and ponders about what jake told him, he finds himself bumping into someone whilst he's walking.

he collides with the person, sending both of them to the ground unexpectedly- as well as papers hitting the floor all around the two.

"who the actual fuck are you?" the person sneers, quickly picking up the pieces of paper that had fallen out of their hands.

sunoo gets up easily and realizes the person is a girl...and an extremely beautiful one, at that.

she's in the simple decelis uniform, paired with a black skirt instead of pants, and her face is adorned with makeup that matches perfectly with her skin tone.

her blonde-streaked brunette hair is luscious and vibrant, swaying with her as she walks around.

"kim sunoo. and you are?" sunoo asks with a hint of sourness to his voice, remembering what jake told him.

the girl finishes picking up her fallen papers and looks at sunoo with a scowl.

"jang wonyoung. bold of you to act this way in front of me, let alone crash into me like that." she glowers.

"and why the hell is that?" sunoo responds just as arrogantly.

"because my father owns this damned school? are you fucking stupid?" she replies, scoffing.

just then, park sunghoon comes into view behind wonyoung, his face cold.

"wonyoung?" he asks the girl in front of him.

"fucking finally. sunghoon, do you know this asshole?" wonyoung gestures to sunoo.

"no, i don't. was he bothering you?" sunghoon asks, an absent look on his face.

sunoo contorts his expression so that it replicates sunghoon's, a tinge surprised at how sunghoon was acting as if he doesn't know him at all.

so this is what jake meant by fake personas...

"obviously." wonyoung glares, snapping her fingers towards sunghoon. "let's go though, i don't have the time to deal with stupid people." she says, looping her arm in sunghoon's and walking away from sunoo.

sunoo just scoffs to himself, walking until he finds a small metal plate over a room that reads "attendance office".

he swiftly opens the door and allows himself in, spotting a middle-aged lady handing out a schedule to another kid.

once the lady is done explaining to the teen, they walk out of the office, leaving sunoo alone with the woman.

he walks up to her desk, face rendered in an emotionless state.

"hello, ma'am. i'm kim sunoo, i'm looking to collect my schedule?" he asks.

"ah. kim sunoo." she recollects, looking into some cabinets before pulling out a piece of paper and handing it out to the boy.

sunoo takes it gladly, skimming through some of it while the lady just stares.

"thank you, miss...." sunoo says as he looks back up at her.

"you can just call me mrs. jang. i'm the attendance clerk here at decelis. it's good to meet you, sunoo. it's funny..." she trails off at the last sentence, eyes pondering.

sunoo already identifies that this must be wonyoung's mother- but he didn't realize their similar features before, as their personalities seem to be polar opposites.

"if i may ask, what's funny, mrs. jang?" sunoo asks, slightly intrigued by her unusual predicament.

"you're very familiar to me, mr. kim. i can't pinpoint it, but i know that you are...quite something." she smiles.

sunoo is a little confused by these words, refraining the desire to ask her more.

"the bell rings soon, i suggest finding your class quickly." she tells sunoo, watching him closely as he walks out without another word.

sunoo realizes that he has a collection of standardized courses in his schedule, and his day seems to start off with calculus.

he sighs to himself, walking hastily to avoid being tardy to class as he navigates through the picture of the school map on the schedule sheet.

is this what it feels like to be...

normal?

。・:*˚:✧。

then again, "normal" is just a perception we've created for ourselves to believe.

"normal" is just a term.

"normal" is our society's way of benefiting off of people.

but what if i told you there was more than normal?

what if i told you there was more than society, more than being real?

if i told you there was an escape?

what if i shifted your view into thinking something entirely different...

something horrible.

unfortunately, if anyone were to ever read this, you're about to find out.
