Into the Jungle

In the midst of all the chaos, Evelyn and me got separated from Ryder and Cali.

"It's fine! We always find each other at the end of the night," Evelyn assured me. "I'm going to get a drink from the kitchen do you want anything?"

Are you insane?? Have you never seen any Law & Order:SVU episodes? You leave a girl alone at a party she is bound to get raped. This was everything I wanted to say but for some reason I just shrugged and said,"I'll just have whatever you're having." Hopefully Evelyn is feeling like drinking some good ole root beer but something tells me that's not the case.

Before I can change my mind on us separating, Evelyn is already weaving her way through the crowd in the direction of what I assume is the kitchen. I realize how awkward I am just standing in the middle of a loud crowd and talking to no one.

It has now been 2 minutes since Evelyn left me to get drinks and I'm already getting anxious. I just need to find a quiet place and take a breather and then I'll be right back. I shove my way through all the grinding college students and look for a place that is less populated.

I had to tiptoe to see over the sea of people and made eye contact with the last person I wanted to see when I was distressed. Kyle fucking Kingsley. And of course he has a girl around each of his arms. One is a redhead I've never seen before, so I'm assuming she's a college student, and the other is Ava.The moment he locks eyes on me he smirks and raises his bottle to me in salute. This movement causes both girls to look in my direction. The redhead's face turns sour and I could see the steam coming out of Ava's ears as she glared at me. These idiots. Shouldn't they be glaring at each other rather than the girl he only waved at?

Shaking them off, I head towards the back of the house and find the door to the back porch. As soon as I step out, I breath in the intoxicating scent of fresh air-- well as fresh as the air near a frat can be.

"You do know that the party's inside right?"

Startled, I turn to my left and see yet another extremely attractive guy sitting on a leather chair holding a bottle of beer.

"I'm not stupid I know what a party looks like. I just needed a minute to myself to....I don't know. It doesn't matter," I said with a hint of irritation in my voice.

Surprisingly he laughs in response. "That's funny I was doing the same thing," he said with a smile.

"Why? No offense but you seem like the type to enjoy things like this," I said while motioning to the party.

"Fuck. I don't know," he says as he gets up from his seat and sets his beer down and makes his way towards me. "I used to love this stupid shit--throwing the best parties, screwing hot chicks, and just not giving two shits about everything else. Why am I telling you this? I don't even know your name."

"It's Leia," I decide to tell him the truth because the odds of seeing him again are slim anyway.

"Leia," he said as if testing it out. "It's short and sweet just like you," he said as he pet my head like I was a toddler.

"Short--yes, sweet--only to the people who deserve it," I said with a passive face.

Noticing my demeanor, he starts to laugh, "Woah there little kitten, it was meant to be a compliment." The only reason I didn't slap him for his comment was because of how annoyingly attractive he looked when smiling with his stupid dimple and hi---- wait a minute why is it so familiar?? Have I met this guy before....

"Have you ever been to Texas," I asked trying to pinpoint why he looks slightly familiar.

"No...why do you ask?" He asked and I take notice of how his eyebrows creased in confusion.
