Prologue.

"Everything's clear? Yes ma'am. Alright, consider this meeting ended." As everyone else i took my papers and got out od the meeting room towards my office. "Ma'am? I have everything what you asked for on your computer. Finally, thank you. And one more thing.... Mhm, what is it, spit it out. Mr. Janskins wishes to see you." I sighed and went to Janskins office.

When i stood infront of the door i waited till i be scanned and get permission for entry. Once i did i stepped into his office and found him on the phone. He put it away and spoke quickly "sit down, i'll be with you in a minute." On the screen behind him was live conference meeting and as he spoke to the person on the phone i knew right away there was something bound to happen.

We are in the Arasaka tower afterall. Everyone here is just manipulative disgusting gonks who are abusing their money and power. Some of them even a family name. Me included, but i still have some dignity and self-conscious. In this world you can be only four things.

First a corporate. Someone who have a lot of money, power, conetions and enemies. Every one of it will come in handy, you just need to know how to work with it, how to go around on your tippy toes and when to stick your but on the front line.

Second...a Nomad. Not many people fond of 'em. You have a large group of people who will stick with you no matter what you are, where you come from or what you did. A family to be more specific. All tho it's a life on a road full of small gigs, shady jobs and in need of a munnition....it could be great life.

Third...a street kid what is living on their own since ten years old with the highest chance to get a cyberpsychosis, robbing small stores with their friends or medium firms with gangs who have their boss. Like Wakkako Okada. A boss of the Tyger claws. She hates corporates but still dear friend of mine.

And finally forth...the civilian. The best scenario what you can get actually. Grew up as normal kid with a lovely family, pet and friends in fucked up world. Studied a great school, got even better job, found a woman who gave them kids and overall just minding their own biz and just "living" life.

"That cunt still hates my guts, really! Ms. bitch Abernathy have you wrapped around her finger huh? What do you mean? She's pulling the strings, YOUR strings." He slightly chuckled and sat on a white sofa and lighted a ciggar. "Well.. that's not why are you here. Of course not." He gave me a look and continued "You know that i and afterall the whole Arasaka company have a lot of trust in you. Look what you did here....you are a legend of this company golden neck." I rolled my eyes. "Don't call me that."

"That's off topic. Well...it seems that not only this company trusts you, but the all mighty emperor Yorinobu Arasaka wishes to see you personaly and talk bout some...biz. That's how you young call it now?" I laughed and just noded still not knowing where he's goin' with this. "Will you meet him? The real question is...do i have a choice? It's not that i don't want to meet him truly, it's an honor but....i have a lot of work, my department have a lot on it's plate right know so. Don't worry about that I'll send someone to replace you during the time."

"No. What? There will be no replacement. If you really want me that much to go and solve whatever that is...you will put on hold everything and give my people another work. Less important but still needs to be done." He stared at me like i fell from the AV or what. "Look the reason behind this is i can't have JUST someone go through my stuff and do my work. I have my own system so there is no room to negotiate. You will do as i say...or i can't go by your and Yorinobus wish."

He stood up and gazed out of the window, hands behind his back. "See? This is the reason why you earned your reputation. You have it in the blood. I'll do as you say. You can go, and please whatever he wants from you..... don't let him down V. It's his empire and company afterall. Tsk tsk tsk....when did i do such a thing." With that i walked away to my own office to check the files what i requested and get a little dose of my inhaler with medications towards stress.
