"how are you feeling?" rowan asked, as connor tied his tie. "nervous." connor sighed. "that's normal. i think. ask adam." rowan said.
"why is that your only answer?" connor asked. "good question. i'd like the answer to that as well. i blame my mom." rowan shrugged.
"i feel like your trying to make me feel better." "is it working?" "no." "then no. i wasn't."
"eat something." rowan told connor. "i did." connor said. "okay. where's your mom?" rowan asked. "getting ready." connor shrugged.
"why is it scary? i mean like, why am i scared? i'm not getting drafted." rowan asked. "because you love me?" "good point."
connor opened the door for rowan. "thanks." rowan smiled. "always." connor nodded as they walked to their seats. "how long is the timer?" rowan asked. "we have like ten minutes." connor said.
"okay." rowan nodded. "here. take my phone." connor took his phone out of his pocket. "why?" rowan asked. "just in case." connor said.
"why don't you just silence it?" rowan asked. "because i just don't want it." "okay." rowan put it in her purse.
"... and with the first over all selection in the 2023 mhm draft, the chicago blackhawks are very proud to select from the regina pats, the western hockey league, Connor Bedard." Kyle Davidson, the blackhawks gm, announced.
connor stood up and hugged his dad, then his mom, then his sister, and lastly, his girlfriend. "i'm so proud of you." rowan hugged him back. "thank you." connor said.
"i love you." rowan whispered. "i love you too."
