It was a hot July day in Lincoln County New Mexico. I had just said goodbye to my friends Doc Scurlock and Chavez. We went out separate ways Doc headed for New York and Chavez headed for California. Me I headed for Fort Sumner not knowing what danger waited for me.
That night I tried to sleep and rest but I couldn't sleep at all. So I went to get something to eat. From Pete Maxwell I heard someone in Pete Maxwell's bedroom.
I called out Quein es Quein es? Quein es is Spanish for who is it. I turned to who it was and I saw Pat Garrett standing there. I knew that my time had come.
Well I know that you can't change history. Pat and I talked for a while and then he drew his gun and shot me in the chest.
I ran out of Pete Maxwell's bedroom bleeding badly from my chest. I made it half way through the desert and I collapsed from the loss of blood.
When I woke up I was in some kind of hospital and I heard a voice say master obi wan the young Padawan is awake now. I tried to sit up but I felt very dizzy.
Someone gently put his hand on my shoulder and said not now young Padawan you are too weak.
I asked them who they were. The one who had gently put his hand on my shoulder. Said I am grandmaster Anakin Skywalker and this my son grandmaster Luke Skywalker and grandmaster Obi Wan Kenobi and you are the Jedi academy.
I slowly started to heal from my gunshot wound. And I started training to be a Jedi Knight and learning the ways of the Jedi.
I had finally made my new start in life and I was given a second chance to change my life for the good.
If Mr Tunstall was looking down on me from heaven and could see me now he would say William I am very proud of you.
I wonder what Doc and Chavez would say if they could see me now
