CHAPTER 13: WHAT COULD IT BE

DAVID POV

She still didn't return. Instead of her return, I received a call from the receptionist asking me to take her. Damn, she is so annoying. Upon reaching the reception, I saw her crazy curls almost drenched, and she looked furious. The receptionist was trying to calm her down. It was a humorous sight to see. turning my breakdowns into silent crackles, I walked over to the reception. I could hear questioning harshly.

"I AM ASKING YOU FOR THE FINAL TIME. WHO IN THE HELL WAS THAT WOMAN? ANSWER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BECOME UNEMPLOYED!"

"Hey, why are you threatening her like that?" I asked, stopping her from almost jumping on the receptionist and pulling her hair out.

"Babes! thank god you're here. Fire her immediately. She cross-questions too much" Saying this, she burst into tears.

"Sabrina, what's the matter?"

"Miss Lia met an anonymous woman in the restroom and implied that the woman misbehaved with her. Now she wants the details of that woman. I apologize sir, but it is not suitable for me to break the store's policies and disclose any sensitive information about our customers"

"Right. Keep going then" Lia looked at me as if I had washed off all her makeup.

"What! You're just going to leave this situation like that? She threw water on me! She ruined my makeup!"

"Yeah, but there's nothing we can do in this. Now go to the car or you're on your own"

She glared at me with her funny eyes before walking away. Okay, that was quite a sight. That woman deserves an award for bringing this day to an end on a happy note.

2 DAYS LATER

"It's finally the day we leave, and the next few weeks will perhaps be Lowell's most important weeks. This will be the beginning of a new era for Lowell. I'm leaving for the airport right now, checking if I packed everything necessary before finally moving towards the car. And once again, someone was already sitting in it.

"Lia for god's sake what's your problem?"

"What! You're going to Korea without even telling me. You thought I wouldn't know?"

"Who told you that I am leaving today?" I asked bewildered.

"Does it even matter?"

"Just tell me who told you!"

"Fine. It was just a random employee, okay? No need to fret over it so much"

"Why are you here anyway?" I asked.

"To come with you, honey! How could you even think I could live without you for so many days?"

"What are you talking about? This is not some picnic!"

"OK fine fine. I was joking. I have a shoot and I am also invited to the inauguration for the new store Dad is launching in Korea. So we could have a nice date around when you're free! You are alone anyway"

"And who told you that? I'm with my secretary"

"So what? It doesn't matter. anyway, I thought you were getting late" I glanced at my watch, and OH MY GOD! I immediately turned to Jake.

"You know what to do"

"Indeed. Get in"

We were speeding towards the airport. Jake does have the experience. On the way, I made a call to Danielle.

"Good morning sir"

"Leave the greetings behind. Have you reached?" I asked hastily.

"No. I'm on my way"

"Have you prepared all the necessary documents? We'll have the introduction meet first thing when we reach there"

"Worry not sir. Everything is prepared"

"Then I'll see you at the airport"

"Okay sir," She said before she hung up.

TIME SKIP, AT THE AIRPORT

I got out of the car and turned around to Lia.

"I'll be back in a few minutes. Search for my secretary till then", And without hearing what she has to say, I moved on.

DANIELLE POV

I reached the airport and looked around a bit before finally confirming that I was the first one to arrive. YES! I was waiting for him now, my eyes constantly searching for him, expecting him to pop out of nowhere. Just then, I heard a high-pitched scream coming from my back. I turned to look around to see and I couldn't believe my eyes.

"You!"

"OH DON'T YOU DARE CALL ME 'YOU'! WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING HERE?"

"That question of yours finally proved that you're dumb. What do you think people usually come to the airport for?"

"Of course for catching a flight. But there are some wretches like you who come here to clean shoes for people like me"

"How dare you talk to her like that!"  We both were shocked because of hearing the familiar thundering voice and turned to find the expected person standing just behind the idiot.

"sir?"

"Babes!" I looked at him shocked when she addressed him like that. She immediately went to him wailing and held his arm he did not oppress. Don't tell me that she-

"Honey, she is the one! The one who insulted me that day in the bathroom!"

"Looks pretty well deserved," He said as she looked at him, stunned by his words.

"Is this the way you talk to someone? Do you have any idea how gravely you insulted her?"

"I was standing there, feeling awkward. He was angry, yes. But it wasn't the anger one normally has, you know, shouting and screaming and all. It was silent, his eyes speaking everything necessary. It was something that never failed to send chills down my spine. Well as for the idiot, she was silently gawking like a fish. He cleared his throat, and she immediately understood what she had to do.

"I... apologize" I looked at her with a smirk on my face. After a whole minute of enjoying the scene, I finally replied.

"It's okay"

"Listen, she is my secretary, and if I ever find you disrespecting her, the consequences will not be pleasant"

"Yes," she replied with a tiny voice barely audible. Just then, the announcements were made.

"This one's ours. I think we should leave" I said trying to change the mood around.

"Yeah, let's go," He said as we made our way inside the airport.

TIMESKIP, 1 HOUR LATER

Finally, we were on the flight. IT'S FIRST CLASS! This is my first time traveling in first class and I'm so excited! Finally, after all this charade of preparation, I'm going to relax myself before falling into that charade again. Also, their seats are almost sixteen seats away! Now I can enjoy myself to the fullest without worrying about them.

I ordered a drink and started to think. This didn't affect me much. I remembered how I reacted in Su-Jin's case. The way he spoke to her didn't feel like the way a couple would do. And there is no way he is involved with her romantically. What could it be?
