Honestly, 4, now back to Artemis, was feeling so much better ever since she quit working for the NSS. She was more productive, more confident, and all around in a better place mentally.
That was until the Squid Sisters came to town.
She knew why they were here. There was no other reason for two pop icons go to a old, somewhat seedy town.
They were there for her.
Luckily, Artemis had planned for this kind of problem. Her home was built over an old bunker used during the great turf war, in case of Octarian bombings. She kept it stocked with filtered water and food just in case anyone tried anything again. It never hurt to be cautious, after all.
As Artemis walked through the local market, all she could hear about was the big festival the Sisters would be attending. They said it was so they could better know their fans, it was too specific to be just a coincidence.
The NSS had to have a background check into all of their agents, to make sure they weren't Octarian sympathizers or spies. This meant that they had basic information about everyone who had applied to join, including her. Address, medications, name, they had everything on her. Soon enough, they would be knocking on her door to take her back to the Splatoon. So she needed to prep, even more than she already has.
The first thing she needed was a weapon. And not some dinky, ink weapon. No, a gun, like the ones they had found from human times. Artemis couldn't just buy one of these, unfortunately. They were labeled as taboo and illegal. However, she didn't care for pesky laws or cultural traditions. That just meant that she had to make one herself.
A few hours later, she had gathered what she needed. The shell of guns were legal, and often considered to be fresh, so Artemis was able to nab one of those easy. From the shape of the shell, she assumed it was some type of rifle. It was long, black, and looked sturdy despite it's age. The rest of the gun was easy to obtain. Now she just had to put it all together.
