Tessa pov
Luckily my mom called me after I left my office and said she just wanted to see emery which is kinda perfect so I can go with Hardin to lunch right now I am on my way to the restaurant Hardin sent me when I get there i don't see him so I go ahead and text him that I am here and waiting for him.
A few minutes later he's here.
Hardin : "hey sorry I'm late I had to go back home and get my wallet I thought I had it in my car ."
Tessa:"hey it's okay you don't have to explain yourself."
Hardin:" so the reason why I asked you if you wanted to join me for lunch is because I want to get to know you ."
Tessa:"okay what do you want to know you know I'm a single mom my dad passed away a few years ago I have sister."
Hardin:" um yeah but I hate to ask how do you know Jace?"
Tessa:" we met in college of course we would go out to parties together and I don't drink so I was always the sober one.....until one day I was throwing up a lot I don't know how because I wasn't hangover I thought it was food poisoning until it still happened for 2 days I finally opened my period tracker app and it said I was 6 weeks late so I obviously went to the store and got about 4 pregnancies test when I told him I was pregnant he kicked me out I tried to talk him over and over until I finally realized it's best I'm on my own and I know i have my mom and sister but it feels like I take advantage of them even if they offer to spend time with her I just wish emery has a father figure in her life it's hard."
Hardin:" I'm sorry for everything you've gone through i um know the girl he cheated on you with um unfortunately is my ex "
Tessa:" oh wow I'm honestly not surprised "
Hardin:" and by the way emery doesn't need a father figure in her life she has an amazing beautiful mother u are giving her the best life possible and I know you are an amazing woman by looking at you and you are not taking advantage of your mother and sister I understand you don't trust daycares your scared that one day you are there to pick her up and she's not there and it's ridiculously expensive so if you ever need someone to talk to or anything call me or text me I'll always answer ."
Tessa:"thank you for everything honestly I know we hardly know each other but thank you."
