Olivia
30th May 2012
3 hours before interrogation

It was the first case without Elliot as Olivia's partner which put Fin in the driver's seat and she in the passenger's. The in-phone GPS was as bright as each lamppost they rolled past in the rainy dusk, making its presence known by causing slight discomfort to their eyes.

Despite the pattering of rain against the windshield, it was certainly no leisure ride. There was a ladened darkness that lurked in the nooks and crannies of the car where the street lights couldn't reach.

Fin assumed it was from Elliot's departure and Olivia assumed it was from the atrocious case they were delivered with: a sexual assault that ended in the demise of two, not to mention the rage presented in the head blows, yet what was contrasting was the attempt to cover up the vics which showed remorse or in detective's words, the vic and perp had either a platonic, romantic or familial connection; they just had to find out which.

"Liv. Heard they were Atlanta vics, and we all know cases don't cross jurisdiction lines without some dude yappin' about it. What’s the deal?" Fin made small talk even though he already knew the answer but it effectively brought Olivia back from her headspace. Her lips curved up in a small smile at her friend's tacit concern for her.

"Atlanta PD sent us a photograph the other day at the crime scene. Facial recognition identified two were the vics and the third a detective, been at the job for years. Apparently he made a transfer from SVU Atlanta to Homicide in New York so Atlanta invited us in. Talk about ironic." Olivia scoffed as they took a left from the main road into a neighbourhood via GPS orders.

"So what, another Joseph DeAngelo in training? Manhattan version? Sounds boring to me."

"Tell that to the perp." Olivia chuckled before the dispassionate voice of the GPS interrupted them.

"Your destination is on the left." And the turbulent climate poured in pails and buckets, Olivia had to swallow the thanks that posed at the edge of her lower lip.

With waterproof coats on, they rushed out of the car, shoes splashing in puddles of water. It took a few more feet before they reached the steps of the given address.

Their hands hovered above their guns in case anything went awry before Olivia's knuckles collided against the door, paired with her holler of 'NYPD! Open up!'

No one answered so Fin checked the curtained window by the door. There was a sliver of light seeping past the cloth. Someone was home, but they were not cooperating. The situation felt more and more unsettling as the seconds ticked by, the rain soaking them despite their coats.

They exchanged a look, wordlessly agreeing to try again; after all, the rain was muddling every knock they sent through the door. So Olivia pounded on the door, louder this time, and repeated, 'NYPD!'. Their hands gripped their guns, counting down the seconds to kick the door down.

A groan sounded out and they snatched out their weapons, their stance immediately changing to the offensive.

Then there were footsteps hurrying to the door as in some kind of haste.

The door swung open and Olivia lunged at the suspect, tackling him face-first to the ground in a second as she pinned the supposed perp with both knees clamped around his midriff. She holstered her gun before cuffing him up, knowing that Fin had his gun trained for every sudden movement.

The body beneath her thrashed, yelling obscenities and trying to crane his neck until Olivia hauled him off the ground and slammed him against the wall for a better look.

Her heart skipped a beat when she realised the suspect was not a he, but a she. And not just any she.

"Y/n." She breathed out in a whisper, still overcome with shock and saw how confusion took over your features. Yeah, the acquaintance was definitely not mutual.

At the corner of her eye, Fin raised his eyebrows, wondering what was going on. Olivia gave him a brief glance, saying, “I’ll explain later," before she turned back to you.

"I'm sorry, but you have to come with us to the unit." And with that, she read you your Miranda Rights.
