A new mission and a coincidence

"...Corlun? Wasn't that–" Black is cut off by her boss.

"SPI's head's surname? Yes. The same head that you murdered. This man–" Boss turns the file around for the agents to see it straight, "–is his son."

The agents and Amanda make sounds of realisation.

"While SPI hasn't done anything yet, we can't take any risks. Besides that, I'm sure you've heard rumours about one of their agents being undercover in CHAOS."

"We have, yeah." Blue nods. He had overheard agents Riot and Poppy talking about it.

"All rumours have some truth to them, so be careful. As for your mission, I want you to end Maverice before he can do anything. His world is brighter than ours and easier to operate even if we live in the same one," Boss orders and advises.

"We can't end Maverice at once," Violet speaks up.

"Exactly. After the head's murder, SPI has increased security in every base of theirs, even the workers in police departments of cities that house their base have been given special training," Blue informs.

"It won't be as easy as it was last time. We didn't know this man existed until minutes ago and still don't have any idea about his location," Black adds.

"We spent weeks to kill the first guy and still had to flee the place after being discovered by those agents that we had to also kill," Aquamarine tells him.

"I know. Which is why you won't immediately kill Maverice." Boss flips through the pages till he reaches the one he wanted to.

It has a picture of a blonde 10 year old boy holding Maverice's hand while he licks the lollipop in his other hand. His eyes have a glint of childish innocence. 'Myler Corlun' is written beside the photo among other details.

"You'll kidnap his son and get his precious dad's location out of him. Don't forget, Corlun is a good guy. He uses his heart more than his head. The security will falter as soon as he gets desperate for his son." Boss gives the agents and Amanda a piercing stare.

Boss hands the file to Violet, giving Aquamarine a warning look that says 'Don't steal it'.

Amanda lightly chuckles at the small interaction between Aquamarine and Boss.

The agents take their leave, talking among themselves about their new mission.

"You coming?" Aquamarine asks Amanda, extending his hand.

"About that, Maria will be joining you. She has been training to become a field agent. I believe that my best team will be a good one to accompany her in her first mission," Boss says, making the other agents stop and turn.

"Yes, I will!" Amanda grins, holding both her hands up in a thumbs up as she cheerfully bounces in her place.

"Is this the surprise?" Aquamarine asks, remembering their earlier conversation.

"This is the surprise!" Amanda exclaims happily.

Violet reads the file made on Maverice Corlun and everyone related to him by blood, heart or mind.

She and Aquamarine are sitting among other agents that they have a history with. Agent Cotton, Chris, Kyle and the Bug team had all been put in the same section of their batch when they were a part of the training scheme. They're all sharing a few benches.

A little away from them, Black and Blue are sitting on a similar cluster of benches with their section from the batch. It includes agents Pola, Mew, Phoenix, Riot along with Leo from the communications sector.
