Amanda wakes up to feel something warm wrapped around her hand. Familiarity makes her vaguely realise it's agent Aquamarine's fingers.
She opens her eyes only to close them with a loud hiss, followed by a curse. The light is too bright, it pricks her eyes.
Her subconsciously tightened grip on Aquamarine's hand startles him awake. He looks around in a moment of panic before his eyes rest on Amanda's pale face and the bandages wrapped around her abdomen.
"How do you feel?" Aquamarine asks though he is sure everything he said sounds like a garble of words.
"Like I've been slammed into a bed of needles," Amanda replies, her eyes still closed as she feels her insides twist.
"You're lucky it was just a bullet then," Aquamarine says, the side of his eyes crinkling in relief.
He had been attracted to Amanda because of her cheerful nature, bright smiles, freckled nose and cheeks, sparkling eyes, teeming curiosity and the list can go on. Her personality feels magnetic and he enjoys being drawn to it. He likes everything about her.
Amanda opens her mouth to say something but winces, feeling acid creep up her throat, "I think I'm gonna-"
Aquamarine immediately gets a trash can lying just by her bed and hands it to her. She jolts up, snatching the can and retching out yesterday's lunch.
He holds her hair up, letting her dry heave into the can, her nose scrunching up in disgust.
Okay. Maybe this part of her will take some getting used to, to like.
___________________________________________"I think you'll be fine," Violet concludes, "Don't forget to drop by and get your bandages changed though, we can't risk the injury getting infected."
"Sure, doc," Her patient replies.
Violet is sure she has seen him and possibly even talked with the junior agent but doesn't exactly remember his name.
Last night wasn't the best she has had. Black was in a medical room with Blue and she was forced into doing a precarious operation on Amanda. Not that she didn't want to, of course, she had just hoped she would be able to tend to her own cuts and bruises first.
After spending hours in her room, punching a bag till it broke and practicing martial arts despite her minor injuries, Violet figured that spending one day without sleep won't be that hard. She has done it several times before anyway.
She joined the usual hummus of medbay, a small hospital in itself, early in the morning. Around 4, maybe.
"Hey, Violet. Black is calling for us," Blue announces, entering the room she had spent the whole morning in.
"Oh, are we going to know more about your failed attempts at salsa dancing?" Violet replies, getting up.
"I don't think I'm that loopy anymore," Black comments, entering the medbay as well.
"So no more blackmail material for any of you? Do you know how long I can use that story of Aqua complimenting me?" She takes off her stethoscope. "I can make him my slave."
"What story?" Aquamarine asks warily, walking in.
"Not the one with the squirrels," Black waves him off.
"What's the one with the squirrels?" Violet raises a brow.
Aquamarine rushes to say something before the others, "The quadratic equation!"
"...Squirrels doing quadratic equations?" An amused smile spreads on Violet's face.
"Yes. Squirrels do quadratic equations." Aquamarine nods quickly.
