Nigga Lamp - Redux

Chapter 1 - The man known as Patrick Doherty

Confirming his surroundings, he swiftly turned to his left, then to his right. Rubbing his eyes, he was confused at what was around him.

"ah... I really should stop drinking."

He was your everyday average old man sporting curly hair, equipped with a brown wool blend coat. 

There was a certain blandness to the man stuck in the crowd.

Or rather, there would have been, if this was your average crowd.

"Hey, wha't you staring at? You got a problem?"

Before his eyes was a demi-human, something you would only hear in stories made by children, and various folklore tales. It was something he could not believe was in front of him.

"so what is the deal with you? a giant dog? I must be fucking dreaming again aren't I?"

Snapping his fingers, he pointed at the demi-human in front of him.

"sit, boy, sit."

Patrick Doherty was saved, only from solely looking like he was one foot in the grave.

"ah here, why the fuck am I not waking up? it's a waste being here."

He remembered what he was doing before he started dreaming.

After getting back from work, he started on his tradition of downing several cans of beer on his favourite sofa. 

Did he die of a heart attack?

No. That would be too silly of a way for him to die.

This was hardly some sick twisted version of the afterlife?

If he had to live as equals to animals, then he was going to lose it sooner or later.

Deciding he could only hope to wake up, he seated on the edge of a fountain nearby.

?

Beside him, in this dreamland, was a lamp?

"wha?"

A normal house lamp. The base was a dark black, with a pure white shade to match nicely, alongside the cord to plug it in.

... 

"where the fuck am I going to plug this in?"
