PERCY'S POV
Percy had never imagined that Mount Olympus would be a wedding venue. And he had never imagined that he was the one who was going to get married here. Most of all,he in no way had ever imagined that he was getting married.
Mount Olympus had underwent a renovation after the war.Now it was decorated in white and blue.He had never seen some place that was as beautiful as it.White veil hanging across the room, the floor changing like the late night sky.The seats were made of glass, reflecting the light, making it dance like diamonds.Every inch in the room was so godly.Standing at the end of the room, where the spot supposed to be the preacher's,stood Zeus.He was in a simple black suit, but it didn't make him look less imposing. He looked like Jason from distance.Especially his striking blue eyes. They radiated power, cruelty, and coolness. They were piercing.Percy shivered when the thought hit him.Moments later,Zeus was going to ask him,"Little demigod,do you want to marry another little demigod? You better say yes and end this boring wedding."He swallowed his fear.
He had no idea why Zeus would volunteer to do this job. When he asked the Olympians who wanted to be the preacher of his wedding,he expected Apollo or Hermes but then Zeus slowly raised his hand,it surprised all the gods, demigods, satyrs, nymphs, basically everyone in the room.He was the last god all of them had expected.Percy didn't want him to do this for sure but what could he do?Tell him,No Zeus you can't do this.I don't want you.Give up and let another god do the job.?He would have been blasted into ashes if he had said it.
He shook his head to draw himself back to the real important task. Now,he needed to focus on the smudged writing on the folded note in his hand.He had to speak the vow precisely. But memorizing is never his thing.Remember last time he took nearly two weeks to memorize his confession of love.Thinking about it,his mind couldn't help but drift back to the day...
A month ago,he proposed to Annabeth. He had planned the proposal for ages.To make the plan flawless - which was nearly impossible if your girlfriend was the daughter of wisdom and plans, but whatever - he checked it for million times. He didn't even tell the others because he was afraid that they would spoil the surprise. On the day of Annabeth's 21 years old birthday, everything was ready.
The Stoll brothers were really good at holding parties.Adrenaline was running in everybody. All of the campers had gone crazy and the party reached its climax.Hw decided it was time.
He was standing alone, spying on Annabeth from distance. She was laughing with Piper and Hazel. Her eyes were squinting from laughter, hiding her stormy gray eyes. The campfire dyed her curls a warm color of orange.Gods, she is so beautiful. He shook his head and focused on the task in hand.Gripping the bonquet of roses,he took a deep breath and walked to Annabeth.
Heart was pounding against his chest.Blood was rushing to his face.He felt like he was going to explode if he got closer. He had never found himself that nervous before. His limbs were trembling, every body part was sweating like crazy. He was afraid that he would faint and couldn't get to say the planned words.
Annabeth spotted him and a smile was plastered on her face, her eyes crooked into the shape of new moon. His heartbeat rate was increasing madly...
"Percy",a voice yelled, yanking him out from the daydream.Mom,he recognised. He hadn't heard her voice for months. He turned around and tiptoed to search for her.Behind a group of nymphs, her familiar face popped up.It was relieving and comforting to see his mom here. She was wearing a simple white dress just reached her knees. It was sleeveless like the ancient Greek robe.Ans she looked...stunning.He wouldn't be surprised if someone mistakened her as a goddess. No wonder why Poseidon had fallen for her.He had never seen her in such a formal dress before.Usually she just wore her worn out jeans and tshirts. He made a note to self that he got to buy her some better outfits after the wedding. She deserved to reveal her true beauty. She spread out her arms and a huge grin dominoed her face. He ran to her embrace."Mom!",he screeched.Manly.He hugged and lifted her up,spinning her around.Mortals are not allowed to enter Olympus.Apparently Poseidon had persuaded Zeus to spare an exception."Oh my,you've grown so much,Percy.",she escaped from his bear hug and stroked his face, cooed,"I'm so proud of you.Look at you in this suit! My only son is going to get married! "She was close to tears now.He could see it by her flushed cheeks and the frowns. To save her mascara,he joked, wiggling his eyebrows,"Tell me mom,be honest.Me and dad, who's more handsome?" She laughed and swattes his arm playfully."Well,I'd say,Paul!",she winked."Oh",he faked a sad expression and she laughed again.Someone tapped his shoulder and he turned around. It was Grover, his best man."Percy the wedding will start in 5 minutes. We gotta go now.And,oh,hi,Sally.",he said at a stretch.Sally waved at him casually.Percy pecked on her cheek, saying,"Talk to you later, mom.",then left with Grover.
"This,"Grover pointed at the spot he was standing,"is your spot. And I'll stand next to you."He was thankful that he was not on his own but with his shaggy best friend. But Grover looked funny actually. His upper body was in suit but his hairy legs were exposing. And he even shaved his goatee to look tidier.Despite it,he was glad to have his company. He started to realise why there are best men.The grooms in no way can face it by themselves. The blinding focus from everyone, the unneglectable nervousness...He started to feel nauseaous. He sighed and tried to find some distractions.
He glanced around the room and spotted his dad had already sat at the front row.Next to the sea god was Amphitrite. They were smiling at each other like an old married couple.Though in fact they were.It made him sick.If you saw your father holding a woman's hand but that wasn't your mother, you would feel werid too.He couldn't help but feel bad for his mother though Amphitrite was officially Poseidon's wife.Gods are gods afterall, they won't stay with humans forever no matter how in love are they.It was enough to hear that Poseidon said Sally was the best woman in centuries by himself. He sighed and secretly felt lucky that he didn't choose immortality over Annabeth.Or else,he might end up like a typical god, dating different girls all the time.Annabeth...Thinking of her,tbe corner of his mouth uncontrollably tug a little bit up.They were going to stay togetger for the longest time imaginable. He hoped they would die at the age of 80,hands holding and drift into the endless sleep, together. It was a daydream for demigods. But he really really really wanted it to come true...
The wedding march echoed in the room.
