PERCY'S POV
The wedding march echoed in the room.Percy fixed his tie one last time and took a deep breath.
The door of the opposite end of the room cracked open,a ray of light shined across the room (Apollo's little trick). The room fell silence as all of the guests craned their necks to look at the source of the light. Two silhouettes appeared. They walked in slowly, syncing the rhythm of the melody. Then he saw the white dress as the artificial light slowly faded away. The end of the dress was trailing on the floor, glistening as the light hit the diamonds. The dress was simple, but incredibly beautiful. There was no lace or any other elaborate decorations. The only decoration was a skyblue belt around her waist. She was holding a bonquet of flowers that (according to Grover) was blessed by Demeter so a comfortable scent filled the whole room as she came closer. The veil half revealed her face. She was looking down at her feet, her full attention was on her steps. He dared to say that she was as nervous as him.
He wanted to take that annoying veil off now to see her face clearly but he still had to wait after they said their vows. The closer they got to him,he felt more nervous. His heart was pounding against his chest like it wanted to jump out from his body and fly to her,to where it belonged.
Finally, they reached him.He hadn't noticed Dr.Chase was holding Annabeth's hand until now.He had been too focused on Annabeth. He looked much better than the last time he saw him.His eyes behind the silver rimmed glasses were glittering of tears. He flashed a little smile to Percy but his eyes were cold as steel on him and seemed to be saying treat my daughter well or I'll kill you with my bare arms.Percy smiled to Dr.Chase and nodded firmly, not quite intimadated.
The wedding march went to an end and Dr.Chase handed Annabeth's hand to Percy. The warmth from her hand calmed his nerves. He squeezed it and laced his fingers with hers. The 'handover' was a simple gesture but it meant so much to Annabeth he knew. She thought it was sacred. The father hands the responsibility of taking care of his daughter to a man he doesn't really know.It takes courage. And it shows the love from the father.Percy didn't think about the meaning of this gesture really much until now.He always had thought it was just a tradition. But seeing the glitter in Dr.Chase's eyes made him wonder if he would be like this when his daughter got married. If he could live that long to have a daughter with Annabeth. The idea of having kids with Annabeth made him blush. Thanks to Zeus who saved him from further thinking about the idea.
Zeus coughed and started.Percy couldn't quite hear what he said because 1) he wasn't focused 2) Zeus spoke at montone that could put everyone to sleep and 3) he kept murmuring the words he had to say later.Suddenly the room was silenced then soon he realised Zeus's long speech had finished and it was his time to say "I do." He cleared his throat and said,"I do." Annabeth replied "I do" as well.
This two little words sounded amazing out from her mouth. Her voice was calm but he could hear the relief when she spoke them. So this was real, they were really getting married. He released the breath he had been holding since he proposed to Annabeth. Nothing happened and stopped them from the ceremony. It was great. Nothing bad happened.
He was lost in his thought again so he didn't realise the room fallen silence. But the thing he had to say this time was different from the simple words "I do", but a long vow,a very very long vow. He looked into Annabeth's eyes and her gray eyes were encouraging.
He collected the courage and recited,"I,Percy Jackson, take you,Annabeth Chase,to be my wife,my partner in life,my fighter by my side, the keeper of my another half of my soul, and my one true love.I will cherish our friendship and love you today, tomorrow, forever.I have fallen for you since I was 12,and since then I have been loving you every second, milisecond, nanosecond. And I will never stop.I will trust you and honor you.I will trust you to have my back in battles and I will trust your cooking skills to be good enough to not kill me.I will honor your wisdom, your bravery.I will laugh with you,cry with you, have nightmares with you, face monsters with you,and do everything with you.I'm confident that I can do it because I have already fallen into Tartarus with you.And there's no bigger challenge than that.I will love you faithfully through the best and the worst, the difficult and the easy.Whatever may come,I will always be there. If the world is against you then I'm against the world. No matter what comes here to challenge my faith in you,I will always stand still with your hands in mine.As I have given you my hand to hold so I give you my life to keep. And I want to add,as we are demigods,we're facing life and death every moment. That even death, can't rip us apart, because my heart is stuck with yours.Death is just a little challenge, because I know,my heart can track down yours as they are one in the first place. I can always find you."
The air in the room was stale as everyone was holding their breaths while Percy was saying his vow.He heard some guests were sniffing. They were touched by his words. He felt kinda awkward as the room was awfully quiet.Zeus was supposed to say something before Annabeth said her vow.But he seemed completely dazed off and forgot what he had to do. Percy faked a cough to signal Zeus.He looked up startled,"Oh yes,the vow was boring so I fell asleep open eyedly. So,it's your turn,Annabeth Chase."
Percy rolled his eyes at the ridiculous preacher. Annabeth started, her words rolled out from her tongue perfectly. She read it with rhythm, making every word echoing in the room.Although it was the same vow they read, she made it sound more beautiful. Percy smiled at her and felt tears pooling up around his eyes as the vow continued. Her eyes never left his since she started. They were getting blurry and her voice was getting fluffy. Finally, the vow was over. And both of them had already had a stream of tears on their faces. They were really, officially, legally, getting married. They were going to stay together.
They sealed the distance between them and rushed into each other's arms. Percy didn't care if he crumpled her gown or destroyed her hairstyle. He hugged her tightly, just to feel that she was real and everything going on was real. That they were now officially husband and wife. He felt her warmth underneath her gown and saw her blond strands dangling over her shoulders. The crowd cheered and chanted,"Kiss, kiss, kiss."
Of course, they did what they demanded. The distance between them was completely vanished as their lips collided. They wouldn't care even if a comet crashed on the Mound Olympus and blasted everyone to death. They wouldn't care as long as they had each other.
