Terms and Conditions

8 2 1

I ticked all the boxes
hoping that I'd hear her tell me she was proud of my loyalty,
I ticked all the boxes
begging that she'd finally find me worthy,
I ticked all the boxes
thinking this one time she'd notice me,
I ticked all the wrong boxes,
This was not a mother's love, it was simple cruelty.

Terms and Conditions remain in small letters,
To hide from you their secrets,
To not show you what's the matter,
I did not sign to be faced by a stone wall,
I did not sign for any of this at all,
Terms and Conditions are a lie
and my mum continues to wear her disguise.

I ticked all the boxes
knowing there's nothing else,
I ticked all the boxes
I know this is her doing and not of myself.
