The next morning, Liam got up early like he usually did. He felt weird being in this place with new people. He was used to staying awake or being woken up for his turn to be on watch, but with cameras they didn't need to do that. An alarm would go off inside if there was any activity. He felt like he wasn't needed, and he liked feeling needed. He made his way through the main part of the bunker.

"Hey want some food?" Emma asked. Liam sighed and made his way outside.

Ryan joined him not shortly after. They were both leaning against the bunker. Ryan took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and lit one, putting it to his mouth. "You smoke?" He asked.

"Occasionally."

Ryan handed him a cigarette. Liam was hesitant but took it and Ryan lit it for him. Liam put it to his mouth and took an inhale of the smoke and then let out a nice exhale. It was definitely a release of stress.

They were both quiet for awhile as they smoked. "I know it's weird being with strangers, and it's hard to trust people in the world we live in, I know I can't convince you, you seem like a strong minded guy, but I wouldn't hurt you guys, there's no reason too, just like how I wouldn't want you to hurt my wife."

Liam sighed and took another inhale of smoke. "We recently met some people, we invited them into our home, gave them food, but when we woke up our whole place was trashed, all our supplies gone."

"Shit that's fucking awful, I'm sorry."

"I want to trust you, but I don't know if I can after that."

"Well trust takes time, but not everyone is bad."

Liam started to feel like he could trust him, but he was definitely going to be on guard. "I'll hold you to that."

Ryan took an inhale of his cigarette. "So what was your life like before all this? What'd you do for work?" He asked.

"I was in the army."

"Oh shit, thanks for your service."

"No thanks needed."

"Of course there is, you were serving our country, putting yourself in harms way."

"Yeah, all that training and serving, I had to watch all my military friends die when this happened."

"I get how you're feeling, I tried to get in contact with so many people to get them here to get them safe but no one believed this would be anything serious, I lost a lot of people too."

"Guess this shit is only letting the strong survive."

"Was that a compliment?" He teased.

"Don't get use to it." They both let out a chuckle.

Ryan dropped his cigarette and stepped on it, putting it out. "Come on, I'm starving." Ryan opened the door and Liam stepped on his cigarette as well and joined him.

"So any of the girls your with got your heart?" He asked curiously as took a bite of food that Emma prepared.

Liam smiled. "Yeah, Elena."

"Ah yes, the first girl that talked to me here." He chuckled. "She's very sweet."

"The sweetest caring girl you'd ever meet."

Elena joined them, hearing the conversation and having a big smile on her face. "Aw talking about me?" She wrapped her arms around him and kissed his cheek.

"Definitely talking crap." He teased and she rolled her eyes, taking a seat.

"Glad to see you guys are getting along."

"Yeah, gotta appreciate you guys, thank you for letting us stay here, I'm here talking about trust when you guys are the ones letting us in here."

"Don't worry, I get it, but I appreciate the thanks."

They continued to eat and laugh with one another and Jack made his way out. "Looks like you guys are getting along." He rolled his eyes and stormed out.

Liam sighed. "Sorry about him.. He can have a temper but he's actually a really sensitive guy, he went through a lot."

"I don't take anything to heart."

"I better go talk to him." Liam started to stand up.

"No let me, maybe I can get his trust too." Ryan made his way outside, following behind Jack. "Hey wait up!" Ryan called out.

Jack turned around and pointed his gun at him which made Ryan stop jogging to catch up. He put his hands up. "Woah, relax!"

"Why you chasing me??"

"I wasn't, I was trying to catch up to you, you're a fast walker."

Jack sighed and put his gun down. He took a seat on one of the tree stumps. "What do you want."

"Can I join you?" He pointed to the other tree stump.

"Looks like I don't really have a choice."

"Well you do, always can shoot me, but I'd appreciate it if you didn't." He sat down.

Jack wanted to laugh at that comment but he held it in.

"Look I get it, Liam told me what you guys went through, and I know how hard it is to trust, but like I told Liam, I'm not going to hurt you guys, just how I wouldn't want you guys to hurt me or my wife and friends." He informed him.

"I don't plan on loosing anymore people, I've lost enough, so if you do anything to make me not trust you I won't hesitate to take you out." He stood up.

"It sounds like you lost people very close to you, I'm really sorry, I've lost a lot of people too."

Jack looked down at his feet and crossed his arms. "But if we stick together we won't be loosing anymore people." Ryan informed him.

Jack looked at him, he did seem sincere. "I still don't like you." Jack made his way back inside while Ryan let out a small chuckle.

"Noted." Ryan definitely knew that wasn't true, it seemed like Jack had a hard time letting people in, but he believes that him and Jack are on good terms.
