Percy's POV

In the dark throne room there was no sound, but for the echoes of battle from outside, Annabeth's whimpering and our own heavy breathing.

The flames of the hearth, now low and smoldering, highlighted the contours of his face, bringing out the whiteness of his scar against his honeyed skin. I clutched Annabeth's knife (technically his since he's the one that gave it to her), watching as his blue eyes switched rapidly from blue to an eerie gold then back to blue and so on.

Pursing my lips, I slowly handed him the knife. His fingers tremble violently as they closed around the hilt. His left eye instantly turned a bright gold while his other eye fluctuated rapidly between gold and blue. I tightened my hold on Riptide, ready to strike him if he showed even a bit of bloodlust – forgetting that he also possessed the Achilles curse.

To my surprise, he stabbed himself – in the armpit. "What the absolute f –". Blood spurted out of his mouth like a crimson fountain and it finally dawned on me that his pit was his Achilles heel. Dam, that's crazy.

"Percy" he choked out as I shifted away, disgusted, from the small puddle of mouth blood. Gross. He clutched my arm and pulled me closer, making me grimace. "Please Percy, do me a favor" I squelched the wave of hate rising from the pits of my belly, mumbling to myself; 'He's good now, Perce, he's a good guy'.

I nodded "What do you want me to do?" I asked, internally wondering when he was going to like – die. He coughed again, spitting out another mouthful of blood. 'Choke to death' I grimaced at the thought, running a hand down my face in frustration.

"In your cabin, on your bed, there's a small purple box and a letter. The box has a small sticky note on it with an address on it" he cleared his throat "Please deliver them to the address, there's a woman there..." he swallowed thickly, tears and pain filling his eyes "tell her what happened to me" he attempted the blink them away but they dripped out of his eyes and down his sunken cheeks "Tell her she's free now and that I...love her" he sniffled and I felt my heart soften. Poor Luke. Poor mysterious woman.

I gave him my word and he smiled softly, brightly. He died with his eyes closed, a small smile lining his lips as the Fates came and took his body away.

I got out of Paul's car, slamming the door shut, and stared up at the large structure. It was isolated from civilization, yet I could hear the low buzz of electricity. The nearest house was a few hundred miles away.

It was surrounded by acres and acres of untouched nature and wildlife – Grover would love it here – the architecture a mix of American, Italian and Greek painted in colors white, black, grey with splashes of blue and some brown. A gorgeous garden decorated their front yard and probably their backyard too, with lilacs, water hyacinths – they have a goddam pond! - , lilies, orchids and other flowers too including some I've never seen before. They also had a grape bearing vineyard for some reason.

Seated on the steps leading to the front porch was a little girl with black hair done in pigtails and sea-green eyes. I frowned, wondering if dad really meant it when he said I was going to have new siblings.

The girl seemed to be watching the butterflies that visited the garden as she toyed with one of the faux roses decorating her light blue dress, but her head snapped up when I pushed open the small metal gate separating their home from the forest. Her smile turned wary as she stood, wrapping her fingers around a slim pillar. "Who're you?" she asked, her voice surprisingly clear for someone that looks two years old.

"My name's Percy" I said scratching at the light stubble decorating my chin "I – uh – was asked to come here" she searched my face and relaxed, her face threatening to split in half at her extremely familiar grin. "My name's Andromeda, but you can call me Andy" she said, and I realized that her grin was so similar to mine and dad's it made me shiver. "I'll get mommy!" she ran into the house, leaving me out in the garden to enjoy the calm, unpolluted breeze.

Moments later, the door opened and a woman stepped out. She was beautiful enough to rival Aphrodite and turn the hearts of homosexual men straight with long glossy black hair cascading down her back like a black waterfall only to pool at her small dainty feet. She had captivating eyes that alternated between multiple shades of blue and green, including some grey. She wore a familiar oversized hoodie and around her neck was a single silver-black chain with a small sapphire dangling from it – looking at it I was reminded of a dog collar.

She gasped in shock, leaning against the door frame. "No, it can't be" she whimpered, tears cascading down her cheeks. I felt the string urge to embrace her tight against me, to protect her from the pain of the world. I bit on the back of my teeth to squelch it. I don't even know this woman. "He's gone isn't he?" she asked in a broken whisper

"I-I'm sorry" I blurted, clutching the wooden box. She let out a shaky sigh and motioned me inside the house. The comforting warmth embraced me once I stepped foot inside, the enticing scent of cookies baking gracing my nostrils tantalizingly.

She sat me down on a soft white couch, sitting on the loveseat across from me, her face set in a grim lines. She sent Andy back outside to play in the garden.

"What is your name?" she asked, nervously licking her lips "Should I get you something to eat?"

"My name's Percy – Percy Jackson – and no, there's no need" I refused her offer for refreshments, despite the fact that I was starving. Her eyes moistened and I found myself squirming in my seat. This is awkward. Very awkward. "Um, Luke said I should tell you that he... sorry, that you're free now" she froze, I felt cold sweat cake my back "A-and that he loves you, very much"

To my surprise, she let out a cold bark of laughter, her face hidden in her palm. "Of course he would say that" she said wiping at her eyes "That imbecile!" she cursed lowly, fisting her hands "I don't want to be free! I...I just want him..." the raw heartbreak in her voice broke my heart. Saying nothing, I placed the box and letter on the table in front of her and pushed it towards her. Silently she swallowed her sobs and opened the box. She brought out a small key and tossed it on the table in disgust then brought out a ring. It was a simple platinum band that held a single gem that reminded me of this woman's eyes. It changed colors and shades, mirroring her own eyes. Around the gem was a ring of gold and small pearls along with tiny sapphires. Another ring was with it. It was also platinum, but held no other decorations but for small sea-green stones lining the ring.

Her breath hitched slightly as she held both rings her eyes red at the corners. "That idiot" she breathed out a laugh, fingering the rings "I was looking for this everywhere, that little thief" her smile turned sad as she slipped the ring on her finger, the other she slipped back into the box "I'll put this on a chain after – once I find one" I nodded and suddenly she burst into tears again "Stupid Castellan!" she sobbed, almost breaking down "How dare he c-come into my life and make me love him, only for him to leave me only a few years after! What a scumbag!" I handed her a tissue and rubbed her back gently, not saying a word so as not to make it worse "What do I do now!" she cried

This went on for about half an hour, then she finally calmed down. "Oh, how rude of me" she sniffed, dabbing at her eyes, still managing to look beautiful despite her terrible emotional breakdown prior "I haven't introduced myself yet" she cleared her throat and blew her nose "My name's Persephone, daughter of Poseidon and Aphrodite, goddess of loyalty, courage, ocean voyages, heroes, romance, beauty, passion, sirens and the sea. I'm also Luke Castellan's wife, lover and mother of his child" she let out a breath and a small smile "It's nice to finally meet you baby brother, though the circumstances are not quite right."

My heart stopped.

Maybe I did need those refreshments, cause wtf???
