EDITORS NOTE: I don't own or claim to own the characters and story of Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. This is just a fanfic that I'm writing for fun. I've always been a big fan of this book series, but there were things that I wished had been played out differently. I wanted the story to be a bit more darker, so this is my take on the story that we all know and love. There's going to be a lot of things that I've changed from the original plot, (Sorry, no sparkles.) and I understand that a lot of people are probably not going to like that. I just simply couldn't get these ideas out of my head, so here we are attempting to satisfy my imagination with fan fiction.
All I ask is to please be kind, I'm not a great writer and this is my first attempt at doing something like this. Grammer isn't going to be perfect, so my apologies about that in advance. I'm also a slow writer as I don't have a lot of free time to do so. Your patience would be greatly appreciated.

Driving in the rain she turns on the radio and the lyrics ‘thunder only happens when it's raining.’ Plays through the old speakers. “Great" she sighed. It had only just started to rain as she left the house and she felt as though the truck was mocking her. It wasn't that she hated the rain, on the contrary she found it rather soothing, but living in Phoenix it wasn't a habit to be prepared for such weather conditions. She didn’t even recall having an umbrella back at her mother's house. Her coat would just have to do.
Thinking about her mother made her think of the day she left. Things had been tense for a while now since her mother met Phil. For as long as Bella could remember her mother had always relied on her to be the adult in their parent/ child relationship. Renée never was a very stable nor responsible person. She was like a caged bird that was stuck in the role of motherhood who needed constant attention and emotional support from her daughter, and of course her occasional drink here and there didn’t help either. When Phil came into the picture, he just took over everything and started laying down rules as though he were the authority figure and treated Bella as if she were just a teenager who was used to getting her own way. They clashed often and Renée always took his side, pretending to be the parental role that she never was, as if Bella had not been the one taking care of her for most of her life.
“Honey, I think it's time that you spent more time with your father.” Renée had said as she approached her one evening. Bella looked up at her questioningly. She had been in the middle of reading a book for English class. “This isn't working out.” Her mother continued. “You and Phil just don't get along.” Bella fought back the tears that were building in her eyes. It was like she was being cast aside. Slamming the book closed, she abruptly stood up from the table not wanting to hear anymore. She understood perfectly well where this was going. “Don't worry mom, I won't be your problem anymore.” And with that she left the room. She called her father that night telling him that she wanted to come live with him, not giving anymore information than that.
When Charlie picked her up from the airport in Seattle it was a little awkward at first, it was obvious that he had questions but he held back and just hugged her in greeting. It was the polar opposite from her departure. She had barely spoken a word to her mother when she left and she was feeling a little guilty about it now, so she hugged onto to her father a little tighter. The smell of old spice filling her senses, a scent that would always remind her of him. “Come on, lets hit the road kid.” She nodded and they headed over to baggage claim to retrieve her luggage.
