Rose x Nico (Rom/Plat)

(A/N: Surprise!! Looked at FTE and thought...why not? Also it's Rom/Plat bc it can be perceived both ways.
Written before Chapter 2 killer reveal)

The second trial was finally over. Nico had believed everything would get better after it. That was just poor thinking on their part. They weren't strong and they were weak.

Ace was still pissed off at them. They attempted to murder him because they hated him and that has ruined all their relationships. They were so scared of being outcasted again.

David only showed his face when it came to getting food. The jockey took this as an opportunity in that very moment.

Ace started yelling at the inspirational speaker. "Hey! You-"

Their ears were pretty sensitive to loud noises especially when it came down to yelling. They grew up hating it. People would yell at them calling all sorts of horrible names for how they expressed themselves.

Everyone in the outside world had it out for them and people like Ace were horrible in their eyes.

Animals weren't as cruel as humanity. Animals provided a comfort no human being has given them. Nico never gets judged by the animals they take care of. Their loved by these animals.

Nico jumped out of their seat when David started loosing his patience with Ace. It became a whole screaming match. Eden and Hu were trying to calm down the two but were failing miserably. The speaker must've said something offensive to Hu because she started screaming at him too.

They ran all the way to the hallway where all their rooms located. They felt panicked and so small. They felt embarrassed at this weakness.

They decided they needed another person but someone who wasn't judgemental. They needed someone calm and quiet...Rose. She was a calming presence to them and she seemed rather kind. She hasn't gotten mad at them before.

They stood in front of her door trying to get the courage to knock. They sighed before lightly knocking on her door.

She didn't answer right away. It caused them to wonder if she's asleep, ignoring them, or not in her room at all!

The door slowly opened. The artist stood right in front of them with a hint of curiosity. She wasn't mad and that was good.

"Uhm, Rose?"

"Hm?" She hummed giving them her full attention.

"Can I..Can I stay with you?" Nico questioned softly.

She nodded. "Sure."

She took a sat on her bed quickly dozing off. They weren't sure what to do but sitting up while sleeping didn't seem all too good for a person. Nico frowned at the idea of this nice person to be in pain.

"Um, Rose?" They stuttered trying to get her attention.

She continued to sit there snoring with no care in the world.

Should I wake her up? She'll get mad. Wait no! Rose isn't the type of person to get mad.

They shook her shoulder softly. "Please...wake up!"

She groaned before her eyes shot open. "Huhh?"

"You, uh, fell asleep when you invited me in your room." Nico quickly explained to her.

"Oh, sorry." She apologized with a yawn. "You should sit down too." She patted to the side beside her.

"Erm, ok! If you're sure." They nodded and sunk a bit into the mattress.

"What did Nico need again?" She wondered out loud staring at the wall.

"I just wanted company. Your company."

She seemed pleased with the answer giving a hum to indict she heard them.

Wow, she's so nice. I don't remember why I was ever concerned about her yelling at me.

They both awkwardly sat in silence. By some miracle Rose was still awake. She moved her attention from the wall to the floor.

"Sorry, I'm annoying you...aren't I?" Nico apologized stuffing their face in their scarf.

She shook her head. "No, I just have a question."

"Eh? W-What is it?"

She looked directly at Nico. "I was curious if you'd be ok leaning on my shoulder."

"Eep! What!?" Nico reeled back in surprise.

"You don't have to..." She brought a hand to her mouth, yawning.

"N-No! I want to!" They assured her lifting down their scarf.

She stayed silent just sitting there. Rose was completely relaxed while Nico was fidgeting with their hands with uncertainty. They took a deep breath in and out as an attempt to calm themselves.

Before Nico had a chance Rose decided upon herself to lean on their shoulder.

"Uuu..Rose" They murmured.

A snore is how she responded.

She was fast asleep without fear of this killing game. They admired how comfortable she could be in this situation. They fell asleep soon after. It wasn't a comfortable way to sleep but it was pleasant.

Nico wouldn't know but Rose enjoyed their company the most.
