Apryl's POV:

Everyone was out of the apartment, I was sitting in an ambulance, Mindy on my right, Tara on my left, her arm wrapped around me, and Chad standing by us. The sides of my eyes were stained with tears. Anika survived, thank god, but she was in the hospital, the stab was pretty bad, and she lost a lot of blood from it.

"I hate this." I whisper, as I feel Tara's eyes on me. She squeezes me softly, "I know babe."

tears start to well up into my eyes again, "The news about me and Sam, the attacks, the pain, of thinking you guys could die at any moment. I want the rumors to be over, I want this to be over." My voice grows a bit louder each word, "I almost died today, Tara. It feels like a blur yet I can't get it off my mind. My life was seconds from being taken away." Tara kisses the top of my head, "I know things are hard right now hon, but we can do this, okay? I'll be by your side no matter what." Her voice was so comforting.

Mindy scoots closer to me, "C'mon, don't give up hope so fast. We'll catch that sick fucker, and we'll make him pay." I smile softly at Mindy's words.

From afar, I see Ethan ducking under the caution tape, walking over to us. Chad charges over to him, grabbing the collar of his jacket and banging him against a car, "Where were you?!" He yells at him. "What? When?" Ethan questions, confused, "Last night!" he bangs him onto the car again. "W-what I had econ, you know this!" "Bullshit man! You disappear my sister almost gets killed!"

"Dude, I was in a study hall, with a hundred other people, you can ask any of them." Ethan says, as Chad pauses. He lets go of Ethan roughly, "Fuck, man." Ethan's eyes travel to see the crime scene, "Oh my god." he turns to Chad, "Who?-""Quinn. Anika's in the hospital." Chad answers quickly, walking back over to us.

"Guys, I'm so sorry-""Step the fuck back." Mindy cuts him off, "You're at the top of my list."

"I had econ!" He says again, as Tara snaps, "Apryl almost fell to her fucking death! We almost died Ethan." Ethan opens his mouth to say something, but closes it again, taking a breath, before stepping away, walking over to wait by the side. Tara sighs, as I rub her back.

I see Officer Bailey come out of the crime scene, Quinn was his daughter. Tara see's as well. I slowly hoist myself up, feeling a sting in my leg as I bite my lip. I feel Tara's hand on my back, as she turns to Mindy, "we'll be right back." She says, as I slowly limp over with Tara to Sam, seeing Officer Bailey in tears.

"I'm really sorry about Quinn." Tara says as he nods, "Thank you." his breath shaky, as Sam puts a hand on his arm, "Both my kids are gone. My whole family.. is gone." He uses his hand to wipe his tears away, as he faces us. "They took me off the case.. But I'm not gonna stop until I find him." he takes a deep breath, "You fuck with my family. You die."

Sam nods softly, "Agreed." We look over, as I see my mother run towards us. "Hey, are you guys okay? I came as soon as I heard." Sam turns over to her, "Gale I swear to god."

She puts her hands out, "Truce, okay? I'm here for whatever you need!" Sam scoffs, "Okay, nice try." "Really, I am!"

She plops her hands to the side, "Okay fine. Off the record, okay?" The three of us glance at each other. I nod to Sam, telling her that I think she's really here to help. Sam sighs, "Okay. Thank you."

My mother meets my gaze, as I smile softly at her, "Glad to see you alive." She says, as she turns to Tara.

"I'm.. sorry I punch you." Tara mumbles. "No you're not." "..I'm not." They smile at each other.
