"NO PAIN IS UNBEARABLE EXCEPT THAT OF REGRET!"
-Jan Cox Speas
Cyrus POV
I bowed and stood before the King and his beloved partner for a mistake I had committed, the mistake that I could not save their daughter Olivia. Rather than calling it a mistake, it is my guilt, the guilt of not being able to save her. Both of the parents of the deceased child were completely devastated by the loss.
"Why is Luna so cruel to us Adam? What have we done to earn the curse of Luna? Why didn't she protect our daughter's life?", King Concert Lucas was crying so sad, on seeing the tragedy seen before him.
"Who was it, that needed the life of our daughter so much Adam?", Lucas cried out in anger and frustration.
The frustration was understandable, every parent who lost their kid would have them! But the question, of who could be the reason behind the death, intrigued me further. Who could it be? Are they the enemies of the King or any internal enemies of the king? Whatever that may be, I guarantee, they could not survive!
I am the guy, I should be blamed for everything. I should have informed the soldiers before handing something in when I sensed that something was so off in the banquet. I must have not involved myself in the first place.
Just thinking of the stunts that happened a few hours before makes me shudder.
A few hours before..............
While attending the banquet, my attention was captivated by the people around me, but my primary focus remained on the royal twins, Oliver and Olivia.
I needed to pee so badly, so I was wandering outside of the banquet hall to find the washroom. But that was nowhere to be found. When I suddenly heard the screaming of a baby, I was alerted. Who could it be? Maybe the royal babies?
Suddenly, I started following the sound, and I was so confident, the sound was from one particular direction. When I advanced further in that direction, in the dim light, I found 2 fat ladies, who seemed like nannies were carrying the royal babies. Initially, I thought that the ladies were trying to comfort the kids, but when I looked closer, it was evident that one of the short and fat nannies was strangling the baby with her bare hands. I was totally shocked. And that's when I noticed a knight was also standing behind them, helping them in their act.
"Hey! What are you doing there?", I asked advancing further near them. They panicked hearing my voice.
"Do the work faster", one whispered to the other one who was sinning.
"Give them here!", I tried snatching away the young princes from the short and fat woman, while the knight was advancing towards me, and trying to attack me with his sword.
I gave him back a few meek punches, that my father had taught me. I should have alarmed the knights or at least my father about the matter. I should not have come and tried to rescue both single-handedly.
I remember getting a few knocks from the strong knight. I could not defeat him. "She is dead!", declared the woman holding the princes. Now the attention turned towards the other one, the young prince. I should at least rescue him.
While giving a knock on the leg of the tall knight, I tried to snatch away the young prince from the other lady's hand. She was reluctant to give the young royal Prince.
