My aunt helped me drop my luggage and complained about its 'so heavy' weight and i simply shrugged. As long as i can carry it, i'll be fine. We stepped aside the car to give each other our goodbyes, though i wasn't going to leave her forever.
"Be careful, okay? Call me if you need anything or just need someone to talk with. Always take care of yourself. Don't forget to eat. And most important never stress yourself too much, it's no good to your health. understood?" she said and went in to give me a hug. I hugged her back tightly and smiled at the thought of having someone caring so much for me.
"Thank you" I had quietly whispered to her ear when she comforted me by caressing my hair and patting my head. We broke apart and i started walking towards the train station.
-"Love ya!"
-"Love you too, hun!" i heard her yelling behind me and i turned around to watch her get on the car, turn on the gear and drive back home. As she was about to leave, i waved my hand to give her my last 'bye' before waiting for my train that would take me to Tokyo. I let out a sigh since i'm already feeling the tiredness of the travel. This is going to be long. As soon as i got in the train i searched for a seat and i've found one in front of this brown haired girl.
I wasn't sure if i could sit there so i asked, just in case."Do you mind..? if i, uh.." I let out murmuring. I face palmed myself in my mind for how awkward and embarrassing that was. Fortunately she understood what i was saying and replied shaking her heard in a 'no' motion. I noticed she started eyeing me up and down, focusing on my clothes, which made this really uncomfortable for me. I felt like she was judging me. I just smiled it off but i couldn't help paying attention on how my school uniform looked as similar as hers. What caught my eye was the gold coloured button with the unique design, only us jujutsu high students had on our clothes, i could tell she saw mines too by the surprised expression she had. I sat down and took out from my backpack my bento box with my lunch inside, that my aunt kindly made.
"So i assume by your uniform, you attend Jujutsu Tech..?" she asked while getting her lunch out too.
"Well, i'm not attending yet. But i did pass the 'test' and the principal admitted me. I was ready to move in, except that my aunt called me saying she was terribly sick and asked if i could take care of her until she was well. The principal and Gojo-senpai understood everything and they allowed me to go home for a few weeks." I explained her and took a bite of my katsuobushi onigiri and melted at the delicious taste.
I remember very well how my entrance exam went.
I was wearing a pair of grey pants, a thermal shirt and white and black sneakers. It was a sunny day but there was still a light cold breeze. Gojo-senpai was next to me, guiding me inside the temple, where the interview would take place. As soon as we got in, darkness surrounded us. The room was lit thanks to the candles put inside each circular wooden columns and at the end of the nave there was sitting the principal, Masamichi Yaga, busy building what seems to be a doll."Are those dolls?" i asked unsure about those other stuffed toys behind him. Suddenly he spoke up.
"you're 2 minutes late, Satoru""We're only 2 minutes late. What do you want it to be?" He turned to me to say something "Meet Masamichi Yaga, the principal" , I immediately bowed and introduced myself.
"I'm l/n y/n. It's a pleasure to-" Before i could say anything else, he cut me off."Why did you come here?", my eyes widened at the unexpected question and i immediately answered.
"I'm here to perfect my curse technique. After i've learnt everything i need to know about curses and how to exorcise them, i'll use my technique to exorcise all the hostile curses that cause pain and death to people. I want to save lives." I told him while thinking about what happened years ago.
-"Why do you wanna save lives?"
-"I think there's kind of an obvious answer to that."
-"Wrong!" He shouted and he lifted his arm to reveal his green doll, i guess we could call it a fusion between a kappa and a bear, getting itself up. It looks mean.. and mad. I was surprised and worried about what was going to happen next.-"huh!? Wait, what!? What is THAT!?" I exclaimed. -"Cursed corps. They're dolls. Doll infused with my curse." and with a single move of his hand, the doll suddenly came at me with such speed that it caught me off guard, it punched me in the abdomen and i gasped for the pain i felt. It was so powerful that it sent me flying and hitting the hard wooden column. I immediately got up and ran where the darkness could hide me and i could 'activate' my cursed technique. I bent my ring finger towards my palm and placed my thumb on top then raised it horizontally to my eye level, covering only one eye. I did the same with my other hand and bent my arm towards my back, parallel to my spine, and whispered. "wake up, my guest. You have slept long behind my back. May you stand and see through my eye." With that, behind me my shadow started shaping itself until it fully became an exact copy of me. But because it's a shadow, it remains a black opaque figure. The more light there was around us, the weaker and less opaque it gets. Just to summon it, it has took me a lot of energy, in fact i was feeling quite tired. I shook off the feeling and got myself ready to fight. I heard the principal speaking while the doll was searching for me. "A person's true nature comes out in difficult situations. I'll keep attacking until you give me a convincing answer!"
As i expected the green doll was able to find me, but before it could give me another of its punches, i surprised it by giving it one of mines. My shadow punched him hard enough to make it hit its back against the wall behind the principal, It caused it to bounce everywhere and blow out all the candles until it was completely pitch dark. Good thing was that i can see really well through the dark, as it developed with my cursed technique. I saw it on a column and while i was waiting for it to attack me, i gave a better answer to the principal.
"I want to save lives because I've felt the anguish of loss, witnessed the fragility of existence, and experienced the profound impact of a single act of kindness. In the face of adversity and suffering, the opportunity to save a life is a beacon of hope, a glimmer of light amidst the darkness. I believe in the inherent value of every individual. Behind every beating heart lies a reservoir of potential waiting to be realized, dreams waiting to be fulfilled." Thinking about my mom death's made me tear up a little and right as i finished i whispered to my shadow to get the funny looking doll and trap it from moving in my shadow's hand. I stared at Yaga-sensei until he spoke up.
"Satoru. Show her the dormitory and explain the various safety measures." and then turned to me smiling "You pass. Welcome to Jujutsu Tech."
