"Fish, you're late." Darren snarled.
"Sorry, Father." Fish grabbed his sleeve nervously.
"Never mind that. All that matters is that you're here now, son." He smiled, changing his overall aura. Fish reluctantly replied with a slight smile. "But, let's begin, shall we?"
"Alright..." Fish said, sitting down on the piano stool.
"Now, play 'Ballad of Bungle.' You need to practice it for the event where all the members of the Church of Bungle will be there." Fish immediately felt an immense pressure. "They expect great things from you, Fish. Especially since you can hear Jimothy Bungle himself. Right, Fish?"
"Right, Father..." Fish muttered. This child was nothing special. He could not hear the gods like his father insisted.
He began playing. His fingers hurt from the previous hours of practice. One day was not enough time for his fingertips to heal. Yet, he continued, not wanting to upset his father.
"Very good, Fish. You're getting better at this song." Darren grinned.
Distracted by his father's praise, which he did not receive often, caused him to screw up, pressing on the wrong key. Darren sighed and shook his head in disapproval.
"I should've known. You can't even take a compliment without fucking something up, can you?" Darren said with a low voice.
"Wait, Father! I'm sorry!" Fish gripped the center of the church robe he wore. "It was just a mistake! I can fix it, I swear!"
"Excuse after excuse. If you can't take one compliment, how are you going to keep your focus in front of a crowd?" Darren replied.
"I'll find a way, I promise, Dad!"
Darren snapped, raising his fist above his head and slamming it into Fish, making him fall onto the floor across the room. "It's 'Father' to you, you ungrateful little piece of-"
A quiet knock on the door.
Fish slowly got up, shaking at his core.
Darren cleared his throat. "Yes, who is it?"
The door creaked open.
"Ah, Mr.Bordevir. Come in."
"Am I intruding, Pastor Darren?" Mr.Bordevir asked.
"Not at all. Fish was just telling me about how Jimothy Bungle is excited for the upcoming event." Darren glanced at Fish. "Did you need something?"
"Um, the guests for the Bungle hearings are starting to arrive. They're waiting for Fish."
"Very well. It will just be a longer before we join them."
"Alright. Bye, Pastor Darren."
"Goodbye, Mr.Bordevir." He turned to Fish. "Clean yourself up. Don't keep us waiting, son."
