Nolan was not used to the attention. While Lanse got most of the attention as he was being groomed to be the next successor, and Gillian took most of the kings remaining time being the chaotic one, Nolan pride himself in being the disciplined and obedient prince. So, having a family meeting centered around him was strange. Well, having Marie around should have been a comfort but the broken, timid eyes with a sense of betrayal shifting from him to Elijah and back and forth were nowhere near comforting.
"What could have been so important that the entire day had to stop, Eli," Augustus was the first to break the silence.
All eyes were on the man of Shillian, and Elijah never broke in the mist of the attention. Nolan was in awe of his composure because he surely was not.
"I know this might sound as a surprise but I want you to understand that my intentions are pure," said the man of Shillian.
A few glances were exchanged amongst their audience.
"Intentions?" Sebastian was the first to ask for clarification.
Elijah nodded his head, intertwining his fingers on the dining table. His face stoic, jaw tight, and looking like the sex god at the moment. Nolan should not be admiring him right now, but he could not resist the pull he had towards the advisor of the throne of Shillian.
"I am in love with your son," he declared bluntly, without hesitation, without stuttering, and leaving no room for questioning.
All that he got in return were a bunch of royals blinking at him as if still trying to comprehend the meaning of his words.
"By son, you mean...." Gillian drawled out, pushing her head forward to not miss the answer to her question.
"Prince Nolan of course," he declared.
A loud chuckle of disbelief left the princess as she pushes back to her chair. When Elijah stared at her seriously, she also turned into the most serious princess she has ever been. Her eyes shifted to Nolan who also challenged her stare. She tilted her head to the side as if silently asking her brother, 'how could you?'
"No!"
Was the only word that left Lanse's lips. It was not an exclamation, or a question, however, it was an answer that did not require much debate. However, it was enough to erupt a response from Nolan.
"What do you mean, no?"
"He is not worthy of you!"
"Not worthy?" Nolan chuckled in disbelief. "How would you know?"
"I just know!" Lanse huffed, crossing his arms over his chest in defense.
"I am not asking for your blessings..."
"Either way, I am still saying no!"
"Enough!" Gillian bellowed, slamming a fist on the table making the mugs to clutter and shake a little, as she pounced on her feet, anger seething out of her. "How dare you enter my parents home and take advantage of my own brother!" Her venom was directed towards Elijah.
"I would never do such a thing!" Elijah was highly offended and he was barely keeping his temper in check.
"But you did!" Gillian chuckled in disbelief, waving her hands in the air like a lunatic.
"If loving him means I took advantage of him then be it!" Elijah challenged her crazy glare that left many shaking but not this man.
"I barely ever agree with my brother over here," she said pointing a finger in Lanse direction but her glare still fixed on Elijah. "But he is right! You are not worthy of him!" She snarled.
