*BANG*
There was a loud clang followed by this almost immediately as the bullet hit the metal door, leaving an evident dent there.
At the last moment, Luther had yanked the painting of a door from the wall with much ease and situated it in front of his face, blocking the bullet. Luckily for him due to just how thick the material of the painting of the door was, the bullet had not been able to penetrate though it, proving it to be somewhat of an effective shield. But still, Luther couldn't deny the fact that he could still feel the extreme force of the bullet hitting the part painting part metal door. Phew now that was close...
Luther heard a clear curse word coming from beyond their safe 'haven' of a shield. Afterall, due to the 'enormous' door he couldn't really see who the voice had belonged to...But he could make out that it was most certainly a woman's voice, yup there was absolutely no doubt about it. Well, but not that he cared much though, especially since whoever this woman was had just undoubtedly nearly killed them. Luther couldn't help but have an extremely bad feeling about this...Besides, it was clear that whoever this was would most likely be continuing their attempt at killing them any time soon.(Or as what her previous attempt had proved much about.)So, with Allison and the rest still behind him, Luther continued to hold up their 'shield', bracing for what was more to come.
And surely enough, Luther could hear yet more loud bangs followed by the increased feelings of immense pressure against the 'shield' as the anonymous woman continued to fire their gun at them. As the seconds ticked by, there were simply more and more dents appearing all over the shield and (Luther didn't want to admit it but) even he had started to struggle to hold on as the relentless rain fire of bullets continued yet and yet again. It was clear that it was only a matter of time (and shots fired) that the 'shield' itself would give in. At which by doing so would leave them with absolute no protection from the never-ending shower of bullets, possibly even leading to their very demise. But although the current growing evident dire situation, Luther was determined to not stand down, to protect all those that he sworn to , No ,had to protect.
One, two, three . Luther was counting. He wasn't exactly sure how accurate he was, but he still wasn't willing to take the risk. His plan was to hold on for as long as possible, in hope that whoever that woman was would stop firing any more shots[although unlikely], or mainly in purpose for the 'shield' to hold on for as long as possible. But this was starting to prove difficult as with each passing shot over and over, with his hands on the 'shield' starting to shake, that was when he knew it. It was going to give in, any mere moment now...
He counted silently. Only three more shots till they were done, or as he had roughly estimated.
He heard a second bang signaling the second fired shot.
Two...
Then another.
One...
He inhaled, signaling for the others to get ready for what was surely to come next --the very last shot-- which would determine their fate. This was it.
However what happened next was that of what no one could have predicted, especially considering their current circumstances...
For the Last Shot----It didn't happen... It just simply never came...
'Wait what?! What was going on? Why had absolutely nothing happened? And just what did this mean?'. Those were the very questions racing through Luther's mind as he tried to grapple onto what was newly happening around them. From the corner of his eye, Luther could sense Allison scrunch up her face in slight confusion, as if contemplating the exact same thoughts. Then as if reading their minds and answering their burning questions, Luther heard a distinct expression coming from the mysterious woman. And it sounded like she said something like , "Urghh, F**k this shit." in anger and frustration. This was followed by a sudden loud *CLANG* against the ground as if something heavy and made of out of metal was thrown roughly onto the floor. Luther looked down towards his feet and through the small gap between the 'shield' and the ground to see a shiny black heavy gun not too far away from them. [It was in the middle].So that was what had been thrown onto the ground...It must have run out of bullets sooner than that lady expected, no wonder her clear irritation...What then did this mean that they were safe now?? At this, after some careful consideration, Luther lowered the shield slightly so that he and Allison could get a good look at their supposed opponent.
