Ash's Final Journey

Prologue

"Come in, Commander Lance. This is Ash. Over."

It was 12:04 am, Game Corner in Celedon City.  Ash Ketchum, a sixteen year old boy, longest reigning world monarch, champion of the Alola region, Battle Frontier and Orange islands has teamed up with the International Police, to track down the Team Rocket Executive and Criminal Mastermind, Giovanni.

Ash and his trusted partner, Pikachu were standing at the entrance to a hidden room, which opened up into an undiscovered area to the police, which was highly believed to be Giovanni's base of operations.

"Lance, I'm going in," Ash whispered through the walk-in talkie. 

"Powerful trainers reside in there. Stay undiscovered and stay on your guard at all times," Lance told him through the walkie talkie.

"Alright, Lance. But if suspicions are true, call in backup. We might need to storm this base, in case we need extra people to deal with the grunts," Ash whispered.

"Alright, I'll send Looker and Goh your way," Lance replied.

Ash slipped the walkie into his pocket, as he slid out a Pokéball from it. He sighed as he prepared himself to go in. He lifted his hand up to the button behind the poster, and the wall slid open, revealing a hidden staircase, just waiting to be discovered. Ash entered with caution. He looked around. No one on guard duty, thankfully. Ash tiptoed downstairs, with Pikachu sitting atop his right shoulder. Ash glanced around for a bite and eventually, he came to see an elevator. He sends Pikachu up, to slice the elevator door open with Iron Tail. 

"HEY!" a grunt rushed into the room at the sound of the scraping noise Pikachu made with it's tail. Ash was slowly being backed into a corner as more and more grunts started filling in the room. Ash thought the mission was about to end. All hope was lost.

"Cinderace! Blaze Kick!"

"Arcanine, Flamethrower!" 

Looker, Ash's boss, and Goh, his old travelling companion and now colleague, rushed into the building with their Pokémon to break through the crowd and crack open the elevator shaft.

"Ash, you go on ahead, we'll stall for you," Goh said, as Cinderace fought back the horde of Grunts. Ash nodded to him and Looker and proceeded to climb up the elevator shaft.He kept Pikachu atop his head, to prevent it from slipping down. Once Ash reached the lowest the levels could go, Ash rushed into the main control room, where Giovanni usually was supposed to be. Ash looked around and he noticed something odd behind the desk chair. Pikachu slapped it away with it's tail as Ash noticed a tunnel dug through it. Ash ran through the tunnel for what seemed like hours until he was out, he was on a cliff, overlooking a forest. Ash turned his attention to a man and four other people landing from a helicopter onto the cliff. The doors opened and the man and the four people came out. The man took one look at Ash and chuckled.

"Ash Ketchum. World Monarch and Champion. I've heard all about you. The boy who think he can invade my domain and get away with it? Show me how good you can battle Ketchum," Giovanni smirked as he pulled an Ultra Ball from his pocket.

"With pleasure... father," Ash muttered. He pulled a Pokéball from his pocket, and threw it into the air.

"Go! Charizard!" Ash cried, and with a thud, Charizard landed on the ground, emerging from the Pokéball. Charizard roared with might, shaking the Earth below.

"Show them how it's done, Nidoking," Giovanni threw a Pokéball out and with an explosion, Nidoking, the purple beast appeared. It, too, let out a thundering roar. Just as Nidoking emerged, Goh and Looker ran out of the tunnel.

"Ash! We're here!" Looker called, as he turned towards Giovanni. He gasped. 

"Giovanni! Ash, you good?" Goh called. Ash nodded, as he focused his sights on the ongoing battle. Suddenly, the four Team Rocket members behind Giovanni mumbled something and faced Goh and Looker.

 "We're the four Rocket Executives, Proton, Petrel, Ariana and Archer! To get to Giovanni, you'll have to go through us first!" said a handsome man with green hair, a flat cap and a black Team Rocket uniform. 

All the four sent out a Pokemon each. A Houndoom, Arbok, Weezing and Golbat emerged from their Pokéballs and glared into Goh's soul. He gulped nervously as he threw two Pokéballs and out emerged his Cinderace and a Rillaboom. Looker sent out his Arcanine and Toxicroak.

"Ash, focus on the battle. We'll take care of these chumps," Goh grinned. Ash looked at him and gave a grin back. 

"Charizard! Fly up and use Air Slash!" Ash commanded.

"Use Head smash," Giovanni smiled slightly at his son. Ash frowned. 

Charizard flew up and launched blades of air towards Nidoking. Nidoking brushed them off as it launched into the air and smashed it's skull against Charizard's. Immediately, Charizard was sent plummeting to Earth. Nidoking landed back down, but lost it's stance as it winced in pain from the recoil. Ash saw an opportunity. 

"Charizard! Use Brick Break while Nidoking is down!" Ash called.

"Use Protect!" Giovanni commanded. Nidoking formed a green barrier to shield itself. 

Charizard swoops down and get's it's arm ready to cut through the brick break.

"Let's show them the fruits of our labour! Cut through the protect and use Flamethrower!" Ash yells. Charizard jabs protect right through the centre of the shield. It starts to crack. Nidoking grunts as Charizard slices through the barrier and blasts flames at Nidoking. Nidoking blocks the flames with it's arms and shakes them off entirely. 

"Run up and use Focus Punch!" Giovanni yells. Beads of sweat trickle down his forehead.

"Now, use the momentum from Focus Punch and use Seismic Toss!" Ash yells to his Pokémon. Charizard catches the charging Nidoking in it's arms, and lifts the Nidoking into the air. It flys around in circles at intense speeds, sending coursing pain and dizziness through Nidoking's body. Once Charizard had reached it's limit, it dropped Nidoking, and sent it plummeting down to Earth. 

Nidoking lay on the ground, unconscious. Giovanni returned Nidoking to it's Pokèball.

"I guess I'll have to get rid of you another way! Go, Mewtwo!" Giovanni launched a Master Ball into the air. Goh turns over to look as the Master Ball explodes in two. Mewtwo, the world's most powerful Pokémon emerges from the mist. Charizard blasts fire at Mewtwo, but the DNA Pokémon lifts Charizard up and flings it telepathically off the side of the cliff. 

"CHARIZARD!" Ash screams. Giovanni grins, maliciously while slowly backing Ash into a corner. Ash stands at the edge of the cliff.

"Nowhere to run now, Ketchum. Enjoy your last seconds. Mewtwo, PSYBEAM!" Giovanni laughs maniacally as Mewtwo charges a beam of psychic energy in it's palm and launches it at Ash and Pikachu. The two are propelled off the cliff from the attack. Ash feels searing pain in his body and as they collapse, he feels nothing more.

1 Week Later...

"Today, we are discovering the site of World Monarch Ash Ketchum, who recently died at this site. Sixteen year old, Ash Ketchum was battling criminal mastermind, Giovanni, who has now been charged with murder. Right now, we have Goh, who was one of the witnesses of the scene. Goh, any words?"

"Yes, actually. At the scene, Ash had just won a battle against Giovanni, but Giovanni had called out a Mewtwo and killed Ash, sending him off the cliff. We were lucky to escape, but Ash..."

"Thank you for that, Goh. Back to you, Clyde."

Serena let out a sigh as she turned off the T.V. Thus was the sixtieth time she'd seen the broadcast, but had never gotten over the fact that her friend and travelling companion was gone. She'd cried herself to sleep for the last two nights, and nothing would console her. 

"Never give up till it's over," she muttered to herself, "Ash, what will we ever do without you?"
