1. Prologue

Lucy and Natsu were returning from a mission when suddenly Natsu locked eyes with a girl. She was quite tall, had ash blonde hair, voluptuous curves, and sky-blue eyes.

Lucy, noticing her partner staring at the girl, nudged him, and when he looked away, she fainted, but Natsu caught her before she hit the ground.

Lucy watched the scene wistfully, thinking that her comrade had a crush at first sight, but dismissed those thoughts as mere fantasies.

Natsu was enchanted by her beauty, never taking his eyes off her.

He soon realized Lucy was waiting for him; yes, Lucy, whom he had always loved since the first day he saw her, his feelings growing slowly. But he was afraid, afraid of losing her, of ruining the strong bond they shared, so he decided to forget about any romantic feelings and see her only as a friend.

Now he held in his arms a girl with an angelic and delicate face that had captivated him.

Lucy saw her companion completely distracted, so she waved a hand in front of his face.

<<Tell me, Lu,>> he said, coming back to reality.

<<We need to return to the guild and save this girl; we can't waste time!>> she scolded him, with her usual mock anger.

Natsu nodded, and together they headed to the guild.

When they reached the guild's entrance, as was Natsu's habit, he kicked the door open, receiving greetings from all the members.

<<NATSU! Behave like a man, not a barbarian! And use your hands to open the door!>> Erza thundered menacingly.

The concerned party said nothing, nodded vigorously, and returned with a serious expression.

<<By the way, Erza, have you seen the old man?>> he asked the redhead, with a glimmer of hope.

<<No, he's currently in a meeting with the council; if you need anything, feel free to ask me>> Erza clarified.

<<During our mission, Lucy and I found this girl unconscious,>> Natsu explained the situation.

<<And there are no signs of scratches or injuries>> Lucy added.

<<Alright, then Wendy and Porlyusica will take care of it>> Erza finished, heading to enjoy her usual strawberry cake.

Lucy sat at the counter, where Mira was busy cleaning the usual glasses, while Natsu carried the mysterious girl to Wendy.

<<Oh, Natsu-san! What brings you here?>> Wendy asked, petting Charle's head.

<<For her, she fainted and hasn't woken up yet>> he said, showing the girl in his arms.

<<Okay, I'll take care of it, don't worry, you can go to the others>> Wendy closed the discussion, beginning to attend to the patient.

<<But are you sure you can handle it alone?>> he asked, unsure.

<<I'll help her, so disappear, filthy human!>> Porlyusica suddenly interjected, appearing out of nowhere.

Natsu nodded and hurried away.

<<Hey, Lu-chan, what's wrong?>> Levy asked her friend.

<<I don't know, I just don't trust her>> Lucy expressed clearly, looking annoyed.

<<But you don't even know her!>> the other replied, slightly louder.

<<Hey, Lucy-san, are you jealous?>> Juvia said calmly.

<<Me? Jealous of that girl? Oh, please!>> she answered, getting up and leaving the guild.

<<What's gotten into her?>> Mira asked, watching where the blonde had exited.

The others looked at her, shaking their heads, not understanding the reason either.

<<Natsu was staring at her as if she were Venus! It's impossible that he likes me. Surely this girl will be the perfect one, beautiful, kind, and powerful. I can never compete with her>> Lucy said aloud without realizing it.

She found herself at the cemetery, where her parents were buried. She entered calmly, always having a rose in her hand, and when she stood in front of the two tombstones, she smiled, placing the flower.

Lucy looked up at the sky, smiling, but something ruined it, causing a hint of sadness to appear.

<<Mom, Dad, today on our mission, we found a girl, and I have to admit she was really cute. When Natsu held her in his arms, I felt a knot in my stomach, something squeezing my heart. I wanted to be the one in his arms. I wonder if one day I'll be able to tell him about my feelings>> Lucy finished, wiping away a small tear.

She retraced her steps, about to return home, but on the way, she met the Master.

<<Oh, Master!>> Lucy greeted him with her usual cheerful tone.

<<Lucy, so, how did the mission with Natsu go? He didn't cause any problems, did he? He didn't destroy anything, did he?>> the worried master bombarded her with questions.

<<The mission went well, Natsu behaved himself and didn't destroy anything, this time.>> Lucy explained calmly.

<<Good, I'm glad you two get along well! Any news in the guild?>> he asked, curious.

<<Well, during the mission, we encountered a girl who had fainted, so we brought her back to the guild to take care of her.>> she explained, recalling the morning's events.

<<Ah, mmh, did she have any distinctive features? Was she strange?>> Makarov asked anxiously.

<<No, nothing in particular, just that she had no scratches, wasn't injured, and seemed fine, then suddenly fainted!>> Lucy said, throwing her arms in the air.

<<Listen, can you describe her to me?>> the master suddenly asked.

Lucy nodded and began to describe her.

<<She had faded blonde hair, was quite tall, had an angelic face, and eyes the color of the sky.>> she finished, looking at the master.

<<I can't be sure, but it could be her.>> said Makarov, quickening his pace.

<<But what's happening? I don't understand.>> she asked, doubtful.

<<As soon as we get back to the guild, I'll explain to everyone what awaits us.>> he concluded, as the girl followed him.
