I managed to get in contact with one of the actors from the unfinished film. Tim Wright. In order to get him to meet me I told him I was looking into finishing the film myself and wanted to do a screen test with him. He seemed a little put off, as it had been several months at least since he had set foot in the studio. We sat down in a little side office and I took the opportunity to try to get some idea of what was going on right before Alex called off the film. I started with Alex. He didn't know him very well, he had got the job through his friend Brian, who was also friends with Alex and had been in some of his other works. Tim didn't like Alex but working for him meant good money so he couldn't really complain. Tim noted he and Brian were neighbors, but they did not live particularly close to Alex's house. He said Alex was fine as a director- until he got to the point he'd be yelling at the actors more than he was working on the movie. He mentioned particularly that Alex was very paranoid, always had the camera going and all. He did not know that Alex had moved away, he hadn't even seen Brian for quite a while. However, he did remember Brian had said something about Alex finding dead animals in his yard, so that's probably why he left. At least it doesn't sound like it was someone's pet or anything. He suggested I talk to Brian about it. I had been at the studio a couple times, but I knew being an actor, Tim would have been there almost daily so I also asked if he had noticed anything weird there. He didn't remember anything odd, nothing like what Alex has been describing at least.
I didn't get the chance to ask any more questions as he had lunch to get to, but maybe this will lead me somewhere. I will try to get in contact with Brian next to see if he knows anything, since Tim did mention more than once that it was Brian that was friends with Alex and it seemed like Brian talked with Alex pretty regularly, at least enough to know about the animals. There's likely much more he knows that might help me.
