"What did you do.." (DogDay x CatNap)

(Before I start this chapter-yes! This is my other AU with the other smiling critters. I hope you enjoy it! One thing -the critters have their own room and this is MY AU-so it won't be based much on chapter 3 "deep sleep" lore.)

~Third person perspective~

DogDay was off sleeping with the other critters in the room- Kickin'Chicken and craftycorn snuggling next to the lamp- PickyPiggy was nibbling on a piece of candy, Bubba Bubbaphant had a book covering his face, Catnap was sleeping on top of the table, Bobby Bearhug was hugging his blanket and Hoppy hopscotch just slept on the floor. Catnap was the first to wake up, jumping down and turning off the red smoke so the other critters would get up soon enough.

I look to see all my friends still laying on the floor, mumbling in their sleep. I just make a soft-mew and walk around the place. I'm still getting used to having so many new friends.. especially Dogday-he's very energetic and always makes sure we are all okay. . .

[ Third person perspective ]

Catnap flinches and hissed at the sudden sound of something falling, and he ran into the room his friends were in. Turns out that Craftycorn accidentally knocked down the light and hit Kicken'chicken in the head.

CN : "Woah-Are you guys alright?"
KC : "God- Craftycorn why did you knock down the light?"
CC : "I-I'm sorry-I didn't mean to-"
KC : " you seriously have to stop being scared of the dark-"

Catnap got extremely stiff at the moment Kicken'chicken said that. He felt...odd. Bobby Bearhug was already up and breaking the argument apart

BB : "Kickin'Chicken! What did I say about arguing and making fun of your friends! That's not very nice!"
KC : "Yeah yeah.. I'm sorry Craftycorn"
CC : "It's okay! I accept your apology-"
DD : "Agh..what's with all the ruckus?"

DogDay mumbled as he sleepily lifted his head, looking at all his friends with a derpy smile. Catnap softly smiled with a small tint of blush from how much of an idiot he looks like right now.

CN : "Morning DogDay..Craftycorn accidentally knocked down the lamp"
DD : "Woah-are you okay?!"

DogDay immediately got up, walking up to Craftycorn and checking her. Catnap smiled at the sight of his best friend being so worried about his friends...it shows how good of a leader he actually was-he doesn't care about himself, rather the others.

CC : "D-DogDay I'm fine! I promise!"
DD : "Are you sure??"
CC : "Y-Yeah I'm sure!"
BU (Bubba) : "Always striving to make kindness is good, keep your heart pure and soft"
KC : "Here goes Mister smarty-pants again!"

Kicken'chicken teased, and Bubba just seemed amused as he hugged him. Hoppy hopscotch just seemed to disappear, and Catnap was the first to realize. He decided to go search after him while the others were busy. He climbed up the slide and up to the upper level of the house before knocking on his door.

CN : "Hoppy? Are you okay?"

Catnap asked with a bit of sorrow. There was just a soft mumble, before some steps and a click. Catnap slowly slips inside to find Hoppy crying on the floor. Catnap immediately panicked and hugged his friend without a second thought-even though he hated physical contact.

CN : "There there..it's okay...what's wrong?.."
HH : "Everyone seems so happy..I can't seem to hop in or hop out of any bad situation.."
CN : "..Do you- feel left out?"
HH : "..Y-Yeah.. you're the only one who seems to realize..."

Catnap crouched down, lowering to Hoppy's level before tying his ears up in a bun (He shows affection this way).

CN : "Listen bun, I know it seems like none of us care but..you gotta understand that DogDay can pay attention to 7 members at once. You gotta speak your problems and tell us next time..we care about you, okay?"
HH : "..Y-Yeah...I will.."

There was a moment of silence, and a long hug between the two before they were interrupted by DogDay and the rest of the group.

DD : "Good job Catnap! You managed to help a friend. I'm proud of you.
CN (In a flustered voice) : "I-Ah-uhm...thanks..I..I just knew he needed help.."
B (Bubba) : "A keen and observant eye is the one who notices everyone's troubles."
KC : "That was super cool of you man! Like..very"
CC : "Y-Yeah! You're..very sweet Catnap.."

Catnap was very surprised by the praise, he felt..loved. He felt a love he never felt with the brutal, mean, and harsh scientists in the lab. He could only manage to gasp as he was hugged by the entire group. He let out soft purrs as he melted into their hands, mumbling words softly. The critters spend a long time just snuggled on the floor with Hoppy in the middle. DogDay has Catnap in a tight grip as he fell to sleep. They had been all day with Ollie and the other kids they barely had rest..and this was the best way to get sleep. Catnap was the only one awake, deep in his thoughts. He was about to get up and DogDay gently pulled on his ear.

Catnap : " Ah?.. "
DogDay : "Catnap? Why are you still up?.."
Catnap : " I guess I got used to staying up to watch over the kids..."
DogDay : "You sure it's not anything else? You seem...nervous.."
Catnap : "I- well...I'll be honest with you..I'm still getting used to..being so..loved.."
DogDay : "Are you still getting flashbacks?.."
Catnap : " ... "
DogDay : "There there..it's alright.."

DogDay grabbed Catnap and pulled him to his chest, snuggling him. Catnap could only let out a small gasp. . . But it was comforting-so he didn't argue. DogDay would constantly pet his head and rub his back for comfort as Catnap purred. After a few minutes of this, Catnap managed to fall asleep with his tail curled around DogDay's body. DogDay just let out a small smile, before putting his head on top of Catnap and also drifting into a deep...sleep.
