Coffee

Since the Pizzaplex was starting to close up and my interview wasn't until after that, I walked to a nearby coffee shop as the rest of my family went home. I didn't want to stay in an empty building alone for hours. My dad said he would pick me up around midnight.

The coffee shop was nice and warm and dimly lit. It had tan booth seats with tables, and small little tables with cream colored chairs. There was also a section closer to the counter that was higher up and had stools that could spin 360 degrees. The whole place smelled like the rich aroma of coffee beans and a sweet hint of whipped cream. There was smooth jazz playing quietly in the background.

There wasn't many people in the place, probably due to it being so late. There was also only like one person behind the counter, and they were just playing on their phone. Occasionally I could see them flashing glares at me because I've been here for half an hour and still haven't ordered anything.

After the third time they did it, I decided I might as well get something so I stay awake for the interview. I walk hastily up to the counter and look at the lady on her phone.

"Um.. could I get a... medium frozen mocha (or whatever you want idk)?"

The lady scoffs, like my existence was a bother. "I don't know, can you?"

We stare in silence for a good few seconds.

"...Yes?"

She rolls her eyes. "That'll be $7.99." I hand the lady the money, which she snatches from me. Well, it seems SOMEONE certainly has an AtTiTuDe PrObLeM!

I tap my fingers on the counter as I wait for her to make my coffee. Whilst waiting for my drink, I get a text from Hannah.

aight, now be quiet I need to consume caffeinated beans

I look up at the clock, and see that six minutes have passed, and i'm still without my dear sweet coffee. Which, I mean, come on, thats kinda ridiculous. I peer over the counted and try to see into the back room for the lady who's supposed to be doing her job. Unfortunately, I don't see her.

I look around silently to make sure no one's looking before walking behind the counter in search for her. I look around the backroom with the coffee grinders and fridges and such, but still don't see her. Sighing, I get ready to just turn around leave, when I see her in the freezer room, on her phone, DRINKING MY COFFEE!

"Hey! What the heck, dude! I payed for that!"

She looks up and glares. "I'm on my break. What's your problem?"

"You're my problem! Give me my drink!" Ah, what a lovely bad omen before a job interview. I clench my fists and walk up to her to try and grab the drink in her hands which, I can very well's MINE since it's the exact one I ordered.

As I reach however, she splashes the drink. All over me :')

The coffee lady lets out a small laugh before dropping the cup on the ground. "Yeah, we're like, closed. So leave." She just walks away and leaves out the back door.

Absolutely flabbergasted, I walk back to the front counter and grab some napkins to try and clean up the coffee. I sigh. It was definitely gonna stain.

Frustrated, and with a handful of napkin, I try to soak up as much I can. After about thirty seconds of this, I feel a hand grab my shoulder and a deep voice speak. "You're just going to spread it more." I turn to a tall woman in a fancy red dress looking at me. She has long jet black hair, and soft eyes. "Here, let me help you, dear." I freeze as she takes the napkins from me and admittedly does a better job at cleaning up that me.

I stand there awkwardly as the lady cleans my shirt like I'm some smol child until she finishes.

"Erm.. uh, thank you."

She gives a soft chuckle and nods. "Of course, dear. Now, you'd best be off. The coffee shop is closing for the night."

I just nod silently, not knowing what else to really do. I say goodbye to the lady, and grab my things and leave.

. . .

It's already starting to get dark outside as I start making my way back to Freddy's. I can see my breath forming little puffs as I walk through the slightly chilled air. I follow the path lit by the street lamps and cars passing by on the highway. It wasn't too far of a walk, maybe a little over a quarter of a mile, so I listen to the sounds of the city as I walk.

Eventually, seven minutes later, I make it to the parking lot and make my way up to the entrance. I go to open the door and find that it's locked. Which makes sense I guess because they're closed. However, thats a big uh oh.

I look in through the glass door, and knock lightly a few times.

"Hello?"

Not even five seconds later, a guy appears and opens the door without warning. He leans on the doorframe and looks me up and down. He smirks and brushes some of his blonde hair out of the way, looking at me through his sunglasses (which he was wearing even though it was night because fAsHiOn).

"Hey there, babe. You must be here for the interview."

It was the finger-guns guy from the daycare.
