Chapter 1

The Difference

Sitting in the summer sand where Jeremy and I last saw each other. We were watching the sunset as the cool ocean waves crept up on the soft sand. His hand strokes through my dirty blonde hair, as his other hand was inter-lapping with mine. My head resting on his chest while he read me Shakespeare's Sonnet 18.

"Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?

Thou art more lovely and more temperate:

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,

And summer's lease hath all too short a date:

Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,

And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;

And every fair from fair sometime declines,

By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd;

But thy eternal summer shall not fade"

"Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;

Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,

When in eternal lines to time thou growest:

So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,

So long lives this, and this gives life to thee."

I sigh in how beautifully is voice rings while he speaks, his voice sounding like a wedding bell. Then I realize that he was gone. While I was daydreaming about how his voice sounded he must have slipped out without me noticing. Now that I look back at that day I realized that the reason why he left might have been why he is still gone today. The pain on knowing that if I paid attention to Jeremy I might know where he is right now, but I don't.
