CHAPTER 7
🌸Chriselle's POV
I wake up to the dark bluish landscape ahead of me. The sun hasn't even risen yet. I stretch out, yawning and checking my watch. 5:08AM. Quietly, I throw on a blue sweater and some comfy sweatpants. Shoving on my boots, I run out onto our driveway.
It is typical for me to wake up early out in the high mountainside. I have always been excited to leave the house early to watch the sun and nature wake up. My internal clock always agrees. Setting myself down on a rock next to a bare tree, I make myself comfortable and stare down past the hill of snow-covered pines in silence.
I sigh in happiness as I think about the crazy events that have occurred in the past few days. I mean, I have had many made many new friends before. I have fallen in love before. But the magic of it got to me each time. And things were different this time. For one. I am older and I am mature enough to fully enjoy and understand these emotions that I had a bit of before. For another, Kai and Logan are just such great people with great minds. They're like us. They understand. Even if nothing romantic happens, it is so wonderful to have people like that come across your life. It does not happen very often.
Of course, it would be pretty cool to fall in love.
I smile to myself as a few birds nearby begin calling to one another. A faded light from afar begins to appear, coloring the dark horizon with streaks of orange.
It's miracles like these that just entrance me. I once heard that the two things humans can never stop staring at are fire and the ocean.
I watch, mesmerized by the natural light-show of dissolving grays, blues, purples, oranges, pinks, and finally a clear light blue color play in front of my eyes. I sit in silence for a few minutes. listening to the birds and staring at the clouds. Time slows down and slowly seemed to vanish from my mind. I like having my alone time here. It allows me to clear my brain and ponder all sorts of things about the world. The birds, sunrise. and solitude always fill me with a wondrous feeling of something "larger than me" out there; the world larger than humans and the small busy lives we lead.
Carried away by the grand, slow rhythms of nature, I snap back into reality and check my watch once more. 6:03 AM. I breathe in the sharp, crisp air and rise to my feet. Strolling back, I quickly check my phone to find a text sent earlier from Logan.
'Morning ladies;) Up for sledding?'
I look up from my phone screen. So I'm not the only one who wakes up early? Extra bonus points for being a guy who wakes up early. Why was he up so early? I type: 'Melissas asleep but I bet she's gonna be so excited. where at and btw why u up so early? ur a guy! LOL'
