Charlie sat on the edge of her bed, staring blankly at the wall in front of her. Tears rolled down her cheeks, mixing with the smeared makeup from her makeup. She couldn't believe what she had just discovered. Her heart felt like it had been shattered into a million pieces.
Just an hour ago, she had found out the truth about her girlfriend Vaggie. The one she thought she knew inside and out. The one she loved with all her heart. The one she had built her entire life around. It was all a lie.
Vaggie was an angel.
Charlie had stumbled upon a folder on Vaggie's laptop that she had accidentally left open. A folder filled with pictures and documents of Vaggie's past life in Heaven. She couldn't believe it at first, thinking it was some kind of joke. But as she clicked through the pictures and read the documents, it all became too real.
'How could you keep this from me?' Charlie's voice came out as a hoarse whisper. She felt anger and betrayal welling up inside her.
Vaggie stood before her, tears streaming down her own face. 'I was afraid, Charlie. Afraid of how you would react. Afraid of losing you.' She pleaded, trying to reach out and touch Charlie, but she pulled away.
'How could you think I would leave you? We're supposed to be partners, Vaggie. You should have told me the truth.' Charlie's voice shook with emotion.
'I know I should have, but I was scared. I didn't want to lose you. I love you, Charlie.' Vaggie's voice broke as she fell to her knees in front of Charlie.
But Charlie couldn't listen to her pleas. She couldn't get past the fact that Vaggie had lied to her. And not just any lie, but a huge, life-altering one. She couldn't trust her anymore.
'I need some time to think. I can't even look at you right now.' Charlie stood up and walked out of the room, leaving Vaggie on the floor sobbing.
For the next few days, Charlie avoided Vaggie. She stayed locked up in her room, trying to process everything that had happened. Vaggie tried to speak to her, to apologize and explain, but Charlie didn't want to hear it.
Finally, she couldn't take it anymore. She had to face Vaggie and have a proper conversation. She found Vaggie in her room, packing her bags.
'What are you doing?' Charlie asked, confused.
'I'm leaving. I can't stay here and keep causing you pain. I'll find a way back to Heaven and undo all the mistakes I've made.' Vaggie's voice was filled with sadness.
'No, you can't leave. Not like this.' Charlie's voice was pleading. She couldn't imagine her life without Vaggie in it.
'Charlie, I can't stay. Not after what I've done.' Vaggie continued to pack her things, but Charlie stood up and stopped her.
'Please don't go. I need you, Vaggie. I love you.' Charlie's voice was filled with emotion as she wrapped her arms around Vaggie.
Vaggie's eyes widened in shock, but she didn't hesitate to wrap her arms around Charlie. 'I love you too, Charlie. But can you ever forgive me?'
Charlie pulled away and looked into Vaggie's eyes. She could see the pain and regret in them. She knew Vaggie was telling the truth, that she truly loved her.
'I don't think I can ever forget what happened, but I do forgive you.' Charlie smiled softly, wiping away Vaggie's tears with her thumbs.
Vaggie smiled back, relief flooding through her. They both knew it would take time to heal the wounds that had been caused, but they were willing to work on their relationship and build back the trust that had been broken.
In the end, their love for each other was stronger than any secrets or lies. They both learned a valuable lesson about communication and honesty in their relationship. And from that day on, they made a promise to never keep any secrets from each other again.
