After a week, The Pandavas and Draupadi reached Hastinapur. Krishna couldn't come with them as the king of Vidharbha, Rukmi, had attacked Dwarka and he needed to be there. So Arjuni went without her husband.

Ashwatthama, Dronacharya and Angaraj Karna were also there as spectators

Ashwatthama, Dronacharya and Angaraj Karna were also there as spectators.

After reaching, the ladies, Arjuni and Draupadi, were with Kunti and Gandhari. They were inspecting clothes, accessories and jewelleries, which were auctioned for them.

While on the other side, Yudisthir was constantly losing his wealth in the game of Chausar. First the bets were on gold coins, then increased till animals like horses, cows and elephants. It got to such an extent and that Yudisthir betted on Nakul and Sahadev and lost them. Then he lost Bheem. He then lost himself too.

He decided to quit but Shakuni already planned it, as he knew Yudisthir was too much of a saint. "Samrat Yudisthir!" He laughed mockingly. "You can save yourself in one way! That is...you can bet on your sister! If you win, you can get everything back you have lost!!"

Yudisthir was hesitant. But the thought of getting everything back was roaming in his mind. "Alright then. I bet on my sister." There are gasps of shock and horror through out the whole court.

Yudisthir loses this round too. He finally realised what he had done. But it was too late. Duryodhan laughed like a maniac. "Go Dusshasan! Get that Dasi Arjuni here, pulling her by her hair!" Dusshasan laughed and went.

There he saw Arjuni alone for the time being. With no one there, he first pulled her hard by her hand. He explained to her how Yudisthir lost her in the dice game while laughing like a maniac. Being in a tight saree, it was almost impossible to fight. She tried to run but was pulled by her hair, which was tied in a bun, but opened due to him pulling it.

Arjuni fought as much as she could, without any weapons, while Dusshasan put wounds on her with his dagger. She was man-handled, really badly. And the worst part is....she was menstruating (second day)....Then he again grabbed her hair, dragging her.

(Draupadi was actually menstruating at the time of dyut sabha. It was her third day.)

He dragged her, through the halls, her being in pain due being dragged on the floor and stairs, that also by her hair and also because of her wounds. When they reached the court room, he pulled her on her feet and dragged her again, still pulling her hair.
