Chapter 2

16 years later.

After Jennie's father was murdered, Marco's men sent Jennie to an orphanage. A few months later, a family adopted her and took her home with them, where Jennie met their daughter, Rosé.

Jennie and Rose became inseparable best friends during their studies. Jennie's father had always wanted her to pursue a business career, so she followed his advice and completed her degree in that field. However, after her father's death, with a deep sense of loss and grief, she struggled to cope with the trauma of his death, but eventually, the new family who adopted her, helped her to heal.

Now that Jennie has graduated, she is eager to find a job to start working towards her goals. She wants to make her father proud and honor his memory by achieving success in her chosen career. Despite the challenges she has faced, Jennie is determined to build a bright future for herself and make the most of the opportunities that come her way.

As she sat at the breakfast table, Jennie said, "Uncle, I am going for a job interview today. Please pray for my luck. I have worked very hard for this opportunity."

With a reassuring smile, Mrs. Park, replied, "Don't worry honey. You've got this." Her husband, Mr. Park, nodded in agreement and smiled at her.

Feeling grateful and overwhelmed with emotion, Jennie said, "Thank you for your love and support. I don't know how I can ever repay you for everything you've done for me. You guys are everything to me."

The love and care in her eyes were unmistakable as she gazed at her beloved aunt and uncle. They had always been there for her, and she knew that she could count on them no matter what.

Jennie's POV

As I was on my way to my interview, I received a text message from an unknown number. The message read: "Jennie, I'm your father's lawyer. I have something to tell you about your father's testament about his property and business. I'm sending you the location to meet me tomorrow." The message came with a location, which left me feeling surprised and curious. I wondered what my father could have done to secure my future.

The next day, I arrived at the location and found my father's lawyer waiting for me. He greeted me warmly and asked me to sit so that we could talk. He handed me a file that contained all the legal documents regarding my father's assets and company. I was shocked to see that everything was now mine, as per my father's will. His signature appeared on every document, confirming that it was indeed true.

As the lawyer explained everything to me, I couldn't help but feel emotional. My father must have known that something could happen to him, and he did everything to protect my future. The lawyer seemed to know everything about my father, even personal things. His closeness to my father was evident, and it made me feel grateful for the people that my father had in his life.

Finally, the lawyer congratulated me on finally being able to start my practical life and begin my career. I left the meeting feeling both sad and happy, knowing that my father had thought of me even after he was gone.

As I sat in my room, I shared with the Park family the latest news. They were thrilled to hear about it and congratulated me. After our conversation, I settled in with my friend Rose, who had just finished watching a new series that she was now obsessed with. I knew her well enough to predict that she would spend the next few days dreaming about it, before eventually moving on to something else.

We sat down to watch some cartoons and enjoy some snacks when Rose turned to me and declared, "Jennie, I met a guy, and I like him, he's such a gentleman!"

"Wow, really? Who is he and why haven't you told me about him before?" I asked, a little surprised.

"I met him recently at the coffee shop. The moment I spoke to him, I just knew he was the one for me," Rose gushed.

"So when can I meet this gentleman of yours?" I asked curiously.

"He mentioned that he's going out of the city for some business, he'll be back soon, so I'm hoping to introduce you then," she explained.

As we chatted and snacked, we decided to watch some Netflix and relax for the rest of the evening.

Jennie sat in her spacious office room, reviewing the company's progress, which she now owns entirely, thanks to her late father. Suddenly, her father's lawyer informed her of a letter that Mr. Kim had asked him to hand over to her when she graduates. Now that the time has come, the lawyer explained that her father had made all preparations to secure her future long before his death. He had transferred all his properties to her when she was only four or five years old, as though he knew about his death in advance. The lawyer handed over the letter and shared his memory of how her father had instructed him to treat this letter as the most important thing in the world for him. Jennie took the letter and thanked the lawyer for his help.

As she opened the envelope, her heart raced with anticipation and emotion, as if she was going to talk to her father after 16 years. She took a deep breath and unfolded the letter, which read:

"My dearest Jennie,

I hope this letter finds you well. It's been so long since I last held you in my arms, and I miss you more than words can express. I want you to know that even though I'm not physically here, my love for you is eternal.

Somehow I knew that I wouldn't be able to see you grow up. So, at that moment, I made a promise to myself and you. I promised that I would do everything in my power to guide you from afar, to shape you into the incredible person I know you can be.

Jennie, my little angel, I want you to grow up to be kind, loving, and helpful to those who are in need. The world can be a tough place, but I know that you have the strength and compassion to make a difference. Stand up for what is right, raise your voice for the rights of the innocent, and never be afraid to fight for justice.

Remember, my darling, that you are never alone. I may not be here physically, but I am always with you in spirit. When you need guidance, listen to your heart and trust your instincts. I have faith in you, Jennie. You have the power to change the world.

As you navigate through life, cherish the precious moments, embrace the challenges, and always stay true to yourself. Your journey will not always be easy but remember that you are loved beyond measure.

I am so proud of the person you are becoming, Jennie. Keep shining your light, spreading love and kindness wherever you go. And know that your father will be watching over you, cheering you on every step of the way.

As Jennie read the letter, tears welled up in her eyes. She covered her face with her hands and wept. After a few minutes, she wiped her tears and said, "Dad, I will never disappoint you, I will fulfill your every wish."
