Starlight [ON HOLD]

Chapter 2

Verse's POV
4 months later.

Pain. My whole body ached. My breathing was heavy but I heard something.

"In my opinion Pluto is still a planet." It was Jace still defending that Plutos a planet. I wanted to laugh but something was down my throat. I started coughing and choking on it.

"Doctor!" Jace yelled and a bunch of footsteps come rushing in.

"She's rejecting the tube! She's ready to come off the ventilator!" The tube down my throat started rising and soon it was out. I took a big gasp of air but started coughing.  My eyes shot open to see doctors and nurses surrounding me.

"Welcome back Ms. Pierce." A doctor said.

"Holy f**k Verse." The doctors backed up as I saw Jaces teary face. He looked tired and skinny. He had a beard growing and bags under his eyes.

"We will contact the rest of the family." A nurse said as some other nurses left with her.

"Holy sh*t Star I'm so sorry." Jace's head dropped and I saw tears fall off his face. I opened my mouth to talk but nothing came out. I looked at the doctors confused why I couldn't speak.

"Ms. Pierce please rest your throat it'll take a while for you'll be able to use your voice again." A doctor said as Jace looked up. A doctor nurse raised up my bed making me sit up. I winced in pain wanting to scream but I couldn't. Tears fall down my face as I quietly sobbed. I couldn't move my body or speak. I looked at Jace and he looked crushed. I saw a wave of guilt wash over him. I wanted to tell him it wasn't his fault but I couldn't.

"I'm sorry Ms. Pierce." The doctor said as I cried feeling angry for being dumb. I observed the room and saw a lots of flowers and cards. I looked at the chair next to my bed. It looked like someone was living there. Then I realized he stayed here throughout how ever long I was out. I wish I could say something.

...

"OH MY GOD VERSE!" My mom and dad came rushing in and carefully hugged me. As they backed up my mom noticed Jace. He was looking down at the floor avoiding her. My mom grew an annoyed look on her face. I was confused on what happened between them.

"Nicole don't." My dad said but my mom didn't listen.

"I thought I told you to stay away from her!" My mom yelled at him. I looked at her confused, why was she mad at Jace if he wasn't there I would've died.

"I-" he opened his mouth but closed it.

"Mom stop it." Vicky said as she came in with Jade and Jaden. Vicky walked to Jace as he collapsed his head onto her shoulder.

"How are you doing Verse?" Jade asked me I opened my mouth but slowly realized I couldn't talk. Jade looked confused as my mom's face grew angrier.

"WHY CANT SHE TALK!" She spat at Jace and all I wanted to do was yell at her to stop.

"MOM!" Vicky yelled back at her. Jace was sobbing onto her shoulder.

"Her throat was slit it'll probably take a while for her to be able to speak." Jaden said as he signaled something to my dad.

"I'm glad you're ok baby. Nicole come with me." He dragged my mom out of the room and the atmosphere felt lighter when she left.

"I'm so glad you are ok Verse." Vicky said as she hold Jace. I couldn't believe my mom would place the blame on him. The worst thing is that is he believes her.

"VERSE!" Asher came running in I put a smile on for my siblings. Tears ran down my face because I was happy I was still here. I was here to see my family.

...

It's been a week and I was starting to use my voice some but I still mostly had to write stuff down. I was getting discharged today. I decided I wanted to stay with Vicky and Jace and they happily agreed. I didn't want to be around my mom.

"I'm so glad you're getting discharged." Vicky said grabbing a bag of the ground.

"Y-yea." I croaked out, it was barely audible and hurt really bad. Vicky smiled at me as Jace came in with a wheelchair.

"Ready Star?" He asked and I nodded as a couple nurses helped me into the chair.

"Ok last bag." Vicky said as she stood up. We exited the hospital room and made our way out of the hospital. Jace helped me into the car and we drove off. I was happy to be out of there. I learned I was in a coma for 4 months. I looked out the window to see the city passing by.

"Verse." Vicky caught my attention and I nodded my head. She looked nervous.

"Since you were attacked we decided we were going to get you a bodyguard." I opened my mouth to rant about how I'd be fine but I couldn't. My voice still wasn't strong enough. I looked at Jace's face and it was filled with regret. I sighed as I nodded, Vicky smiled as she continue talking to us about random stuff. We pulled up to the house and I saw Ashley standing there bouncing up and down. Jace got me out of the car and in the crutches.

"VERSEY!" She cried out hugging me carefully. I tried to laugh but nothing came out.

"I'm so glad you're ok." She said helping Vicky with my stuff. We all entered the house and I went to my room. They got me a room on the first floor. I sat down tired from crunching from the car to the room. Vicky sat down my stuff on the dresser.

"Are you ok Star?" Jace asked and I grabbed my notepad and wrote.

'Yeah I'm just gonna take a nap." He nodded as they left my room. I covered myself under the blanket and quickly fell asleep.
