chapter five : calla
it's a bit too much for me
I know it will make you smileSo, let ourselves get wet inside the rain
Y/N L/N felt the stinging pain on her palms when the stick from her mother's grasp collided with it. You bit the bottom of your lip to stop yourself from sobbing, another thing your mother hate the most are crybabies. Your strict mother had been punishing you for the past five minutes. The reason being? You had one mistake on the surprise quiz the subject teacher gave the class earlier.
"The only thing you have to do is to study well. How come you still failed to do so?" Your mother said, sternly. Her eyebrows were furrowed as she still hit your palms with the stick she had been using since you were a kid. You're honestly surprised that it is still alive after so many years.
The strict woman let out a sigh of disappointment, as the hitting came to a stop. She then glanced at you, looking straightly into your eyes. Your mother's stone cold face turned into a soft one as she caress your cheeks.
"You do know I only want the best for you, right?" She said, in her most loving tone. You stayed quiet, in fear of receiving her punishments once again.
"Perfection is what we need— what this family needs." Your mother added, her hand then left your right cheek as she turn around, letting you face her back.
"Mirai, treat Y/N's wounds." She ordered, before leaving you all alone, in the huge living room of your family's mansion. The maid she had called quickly raced towards where you stand, a medkit was already in Mirai's grasp, as if anticipating about this happening.
The maid eyed you, her eyes filled with concern as she slowly approached you. She is scared about what your reaction will be if she were to approach you in a quick pace. You raised your head and looked at her, giving her a calm smile as you nodded.
"It's alright, Mirai." You told her softly. She then started tending the wounds you have on your palms, you kept a tough appearance, not once did a sob escape your lips. It was as if you were numb by the pain already, but you knew you were not. You were not numb yet. You can still feel the stinging pain from your palms, at least that is the only way of knowing that you were still human.
It hurts, you know? When people jokingly tells you how perfect you are, that it is not possible that you're a human. Are you a robot? They sometimes jokingly ask, following up with a laugh. You didn't took it as a compliment, as petty as it sounds, you took it rather offensively. But instead of lashing at them, which you are forbid of doing so, you just laugh along.
