Tails completed his pass over Green Hill and expertly landed the Tornado, summoned by Sonic through their emergency contact system—an unusual occurrence. Ever since Sonic and Dr. Robotnik vanished a couple of weeks ago, leaving only Robotnik's unsettling reappearance, Sonic had remained missing in action. As Tails let the familiar melodies of the zone briefly soothe his mind, he couldn't shake the eerie silence that enveloped everything else. It was dead silent.
Exiting the cockpit onto the verdant grass, Tails immediately sensed something amiss. The tranquility of Green Hill was shattered by a scene straight out of a nightmare: dead animals strewn against trees, destroyed and burning badniks, and the once vibrant grass now tinged with a sickly hue. The music had morphed into a distorted, chilling cacophony. A dead flicky hanging by its entrails from a tree caused Tails to yelp in horror.
Taking hesitant steps forward, Tails swallowed hard, the horror sinking in as he approached the ghastly scene. The air was thick with an oppressive dread, each breath laden with a sense of foreboding. His heart pounded in his chest, a symphony of fear and confusion echoing in his ears.
Running through the desecrated landscape, tears clouding his vision, Tails felt his heart wrench with each step. The horrors only escalated: the once clear water surrounding the zone now resembled a river of blood, bodies stacked high enough to brush against the palm leaves, and the grass turning a sickly yellow-brown. Choking back sobs, Tails struggled for breath until he had to stop, his hands shielding his eyes from the gruesome sight.
Once he caught his breath, Tails cautiously surveyed the area and spotted Sonic with his back turned. Relief flooded through him as he approached, inch by inch. But as Sonic turned to face him, Tails couldn't ignore the fresh crimson stains on his friend's white gloves. "A-are you okay, Sonic?" Tails stammered, his gaze flickering nervously. Sonic's unnaturally calm demeanor amidst the surrounding horror sent shivers down Tails' spine. "Yeah, I'm good. Thanks for coming," Sonic replied, his voice unsettlingly serene. "Have you seen Robotnik? I bet he's the one behind all this." Gesturing around with a nonchalant sweep of his hand, Sonic didn't wait for Tails to respond. "Let's head to the Tornado and plan our first move from there." With that, he dashed off towards the waiting plane, leaving Tails bewildered and apprehensive.
